However some ideas that you/she might enjoy investigating...
Age of Wonders III, legendary TBS fantasy game, that works great for co-op couples.
Set up a random map with other AI-controlled teams.
Even older, and arguably greater, Heroes of Might and Magic III is a classic that has co-op maps.
Armello. Not necessarily co-op exactly, but can definitely be played that way.
The most similar to FTK of all these suggestions maybe?
Faeria. Hearthstone-style card game with some co-op play. Not sure how much these days.
Slay The Spire and Monster Hunters. Ostensibly single player but perfect fun played as a gaming couple controlling one character.
Lord of the Rings Living Card Game. Hearthstone-style, with extensive multiplayer not yet
but planned for soon.
Actually, often the best co-op experiences are in some MMOs, such as Lord of the Rings, which is free to play. Not turn-based, but not a twitch game in the slightest. Enjoy exploring Middle Earth in your own mini fellowship at your own pace. If you like Tolkien lore, even more fun.
Was awesome to hear LOTRO as recommended. I did sound design on that game for years! :D
