Need guide on managing healing and healing cost
Many things are scarce in this game.
Healing item, time, gold, gear are not easy to come by.

I need opinions on how to approach if I run a party without herbalist.

1. Before level 2, I spent some gold on gear . I know these gear will get replaced within another 2 levels.
But these gears lower the damage we take in combat and kill enemy faster mean less damage taken too.

2. I spent early gold on beard and tinder. Try fight with everyone almost naked and pray for loot drop.
Low combat effectiveness mean more damage taken. Have to go inn more often but is cheap.

Or any better suggestion? For the first few levels.

im new to this game too, but if i dont find a group heal item soon, i restart. group heal is incredible useful in the campaign, since you get a limited amount of healing.

but... i played the dungeon run too. there the cities "update" every now and then and get new and better items - so it might be possible that you get unlimited heal items in dungeon runs but not in the "normal" campaign.
does anyone know wether this is a bug or a feature? should this happen in the campaign too?

Never spend money on gear if you could buy a godsbeard. Tinderpouch isn't must have but can be very useful if you are too far away from the next town or as a in dungeon heal. Only buy gear if you have any spare coin or if your weapon is waaay to weak. Also invest in your pipe! If you have lore and play awareness/strength classes get Waldhar's Wrath/Vardemoder for a chance at a lifesteal weapon should you struggle in lategame.

Seriously. Later game it is ALL about healing since there are few options and there is permadeath

But how you make it pass the early game without herbalist in normal difficulty?

Dont use ur godsbeard for every minor injury. If you think you can take one more hit then take it. Inns are dirt cheap to use. You just have to get a feel for how much dmg some enemies tend to do and heal accordingly. You shouldn't be using any healing items outside of the big dungeons.

Also, you can really utilize the Tinderpouch.

It stays for what, 10 turns.

If there are a bit of enemies nearby, run, fight it, and then heal again on the tinderpouch.

You can even keep 2 of your characters on the tinder, and just use 1 to run and initiate combat (if the tinder isnt too far from the fight).

I cleared a mini dungeon and a couple enemies using 1 tinder pouch to heal when needed.

I already play with these 2 good knowledge.

But early game first 2 levels still hard to decide
Buy gear to kill enemy faster first?
Buy beard first while it is cheap and no need back track in future?

"Inns are dirt cheap to use."

Not for long. wait until level 5 or so. 200 per character....

maybe 20 but definetly not 200 and if you have a busker you can easily get enough gold for inns.

Dr, inn price is determined by story progress. I said "level five" but I should have said "after the maze". YMMV

Money scales as well, you shouldn't have any problems if you don't spend too much money on gear and sell everything that has no use later on. Farm some Thief type npcs (all scamps leprechauns, thieves) if you really struggle.

You can go for speed, if all three of your characters take their turn before the enemy you can usually kill one and reduce their overall damage by 33%. I find the enemy tends to "pick on" one party member every fight so this might be better than group healing.

IMHO the best items in the game are the ones that slow down all the enemys (gold bow, royal bow) or speed up your entire party(tome of wonder)

It's also very effective to setup camp right before you enter a dungeon and use it again right after you leave.

For the last game i played, I was VERY careful about healing herbs but ultimately the game's inflationary economy meant that exploring of any sort at all would just end in death of a character. It stopped being fun, at least for me, at that point. great game for some but not everyone.

The balance around beard economy sux.

The world may going to end but the shopkeepers rather increase herb price than help the heroes.
