You‘ll have to gear up quick in order to keem up with higher level mobs, so 2) you‘ll need gold asap, and 3) the next chaos points are some time away, but will be more difficult to get rid of.
I agree with Aston on farming the Golden Plains. Fight as many goblins and goblin camps as possible. If you pick on binosaurs try to fight them 3v1, they often drop something worth a couple coins. But fighting them 3v3 is not efficient (unless maybe it‘s right next to a town). Try to do both sidequests.
So now you‘ve leved a bit, earned some gold and geared up (3-5 armour and a new weapon per character), what next?
Chaos has neared. You‘ll want to find the forgotten cellar as it is rather easy to clear (bring one or two panax to cure acid). If it‘s in the golden plains: perfect. If it‘s in the bog islands or the poisoned bog/burning forest account for the time and gold (ship!) you‘ll need to get there.
You can clear the Mind Bender when your party is lvl4. I usually like to put down a camp, have them heal up, clean the Mind Bender, heal for a second time, clear a (hopefully) nearby Camp (maybe even a chaos henchman from a sidequest!) and maybe even heal a third time.
You‘ve now given yourself more time (chaos is fought back), gained good xp and gold. And with one tent down your party is looking healthy. Next objective: gear up a second time. Time for pipesmith, godsbeared. Shop for things you need rather than you can afford. Take any cave with you on the way to the liches crypt. Take (many) easy fights. You dont want to spend loads on healing now. Party heal hand pipe lvl 2 on one character is well worth it now as you‘ll head into multiple dungeons (caves, crypt and the king‘s maze maybe even a sea cave).
If you really float gold you might even consider pickibg up a pipe lvl 3 for 270 at the Devil‘s Wharf. But lvl 2 is fine really.
I hope you‘ll be able to clear out the crypt.
Now before heading into the kings maze use all your turns in ways to improve gear and stock up on godsbeard. Spend every last penny. Visit towns for any sidequests you‘ve missed out on (take -chaos if gold or item is not rewarding enough. —> ask yourself: can you make more gold+xp in the time you gain from having less chaos than the other quest would reward you?)
Jump into the king‘s maze just before your first chaos point arrives as you dont want the enemy to have additional hp.
Overall:
Spend little to no time in the poisoned bog! Very time and gold consuming place.
Dont shy away from using a camp in order to force clearing an otherwise difficult Camp or Mindbender.
Pick up any underleved cave if possible. Group up 3v1 on otherwise high-risk/high-reward enemies.
Careful around the burning forest. You‘re likely to be ambushed there. Try to moving through it quickly and never alone.
And at last: a tip for the islands.. almost every island holds one special thing.
-alluring pool, Main Quest, Sanctum, scourge, stone hero, dark carnival and a cave.
...It‘s worth embarking/ jumping out on your last movement point to reveal what each island holds. (your uncovering sight is the regular one tile (unless you swap to a +1 distance item whilst travelling and not fighting ;-) )
That should help you completing Act II.
I found these events are not worth to spend focus.
I using a new trick that place a well positioned tinder then kill multiple enemies/dungeon. This way a tinder heal so much and can spend focus to fight better.
Thanks for your island tips.
The helping hand sometimes rewards you a tinder pouch!
But yes.. they need a perfect.. and are usually only with it when yo have too much focus on you. (e.g. before pledging to a sanctum ur a stone hero... or before heading into an inn etc.)
Some random events are trash though.. yes.
Best event: wishing well -> +1 Focus
