that's what I said. taking damage..as in an attack connecting with your character, evading means the attack didn't connect. blocking and such means the attack connected, they got hit etc etc.
Don't be so hasty to be critical of others blah blah right back at you. shouldn't have to state the obvious basics to you
Getting hit is literally not the same thing as taking damage. You can get hit and not take damage. You literally “damage reflection only works if you take damage.” This is wrong.
Taking damage is losing hitpoints.
Damage reflection works when you don’t lose hitpoints too.
Just trying to understand why some people say "a hunter is the better tank". Imho they are wrong.
I would agree with you IF the only(sic) high vitality character, wouldn't be so slow. Smith cannot protect anyone from most of the enemies' first attack. Most of the time hunter goes first in combat (curse u assassins) and thus can protect everyone for the whole fight. Hunters need to use focus to taunt tho.
What comes to taking/evading hits hunter is way better with their high evasion (in my current game mine has 67). You don't have to have both high armor and resist when u have evasion. In addition some enemies seem to have attacks that deal pure damage (my whole party took the exactly same amount of damage) in which case only evasion helps and ofc there is also piercing attacks.
I've given up on having a tank altogether cos they just don't really fulfill their purpose. I could consider using a hunter for tanking for fights it is really needed but I still think reset-locking the high threat target is a better option.
