Please allow the ability to switch sanctums without having to die to do so
as title says; Please allow the ability to switch sanctums without having to die to do so. and if it is a balance issue that is the argument on why this would players advantage to be able to heal easily by doing that, then just simply make it where the sanctum does not heal the player if he is switching from one to another and only heals if he is not attuned to one already.

I could see a potential problem with the buffs they give - switching buffs to help build for a specific fight. However, I don't really see too much of a problem with this.
+1 to allowing characters to switch. It can also free up a sanctum better fitted for an ally as well.

Added as an optional house rule, I would agree to it being added. But choosing your sanctum is part of the game. Do you take the less than ideal one now, or save your sanctum slot for hopefully finding the one you want later? It's just one of the mechanics to force you to make a decision.

Scantums are temporary anyway ... sooner or later they crumble either in a fight or because you get the scourge that destroys them.
So I think about which character to give which sanctum as long as they don't have any but I'd never waste one by switching. An equipped sanctum is one life more, after all.

If people want to switch, I'd say that is fine - with the advantage comes the disadvantage of a life less.

That's assuming you do die, but with the right team you can pretty much not die once throughout the whole campaign unless maaaaybe on end of campaign boss fight on the hardest difficulty and with an unlucky roll.

Never got how anyone could win on gold or not die once and all that. I think I know the game pretty well by now, but obviously there is even more to know. Since big parts of the game are based on luck, too, I really don't understand how you can beat it so easily every time. *shrug*
Guess it's the equivalent of counting cards and thinking for minutes on each single move?
Anyway, I'd go out on a limb and say most players aren't that good and do die occasionally or even often.

Here is something you can try:

1. Best team setup in my opinion is: Gladiator, Scholar, Trapper

This team all have high speed which is very important to kill monsters before they all get their turn, if you elimate one or two before their turn comes, thats so much damage saved.

Also at start of the game you give your gladiator extra weapon and shield to the trapper who has the skill to use them well and now you can start the game strong until you get more gear.

and finally refocus for scholar and the improved trap disarm on trapper are very useful, as well as the gladiator extra dps at times and his gold gain near towns

2. Always try to get their main stat as high as possible so that you get the highest chance to max roll your attacks for maximum damage and not having to go more rounds and take extra damage from mobs you could have avoided

3. look at the monster turn order and if you can kill the next monster in live for sure then target him, otherwise focus the monster after that whichever one you can eliminate first before their turn comes

4. choose weapons wisely, just because a weapon shows more damage does not mean it is better, sometimes a 32 damage weapon but with 5 rolls isnt as good as a 26 damage with 2-3 rolls, but also weapon skills matter a lot. for example ignore armor/resistance weapon are great, or weapons that can reset the enemy.

5. speaking of reset, i dont build my trapper with a bow i use talent weapons like musicale instruments, SPECIALLY one with a reset skill, even if that weapon damage is ♥♥♥♥ i always choose the reset weapon, because vs tough fights such as bosses or whatever, you can guarantee that boss never gets a turn unless it's the first turn by resetting him every time and spending one focus to assure that it doesnt miss. and for that reason i try to get all the +talent gear for him and hopefully a refocus item so he always has a focus, or stack some consumables that regain his focus

6. buy every godsbeard in everytown, max the scholar's pipe and either get him the party heal trinket which is ideal or at least any weapon with that skill so u can party heal after evey fight and switch back to your high dps weapon before the next fight (this saves you tons of godsbeard. But also always leave at least 1 godsbeard on the other 2 toons.

7. don't waste focus, if your next enemy turn is after 3 heroes and he is last one left for example, then don't waste focus since the character after this one will finish him off before his turn, unless there's another monster that you can for sure kill as well with you next character turns before his turn comes, otherwise the 2nd monster will hit you anyways so no need to waste focus and just kill him after his turn ends

8. give all resistance and physical damage candies to gladiator, all evasion candies to trapper and all armor and magic damage candies to scholar. try to get the scholar a good 1 handed wand such as death ray combined with a shield, and evasion items to trapper

9. i choose the following sanctums:
Gladiator: the crit one
Scholar: the xp one (which is great if you unlocked lore item for it +5 Intelligence)
trapper: either the gold multiplier one or the evasion+speed one. depending on how hurt i am on gold

10. and lastly; the more lore items you unlock in the lore store the easier the game will get.

11. if town quests have a -chaos option always choose those because you can always find items elsewhere but reduce chaos is the hardest to handle. as for scourges, just kill them.

Feel free to message me for any further questions or if you want to play sometime.

Cheers
