Acid is the worst part of this game
Especially on the easier modes.

Something that will destroy your hard earned items with a 100% chance, with no amount of skill allowing you to avoid it, is just a pure punishment. It doesnt inspire you to play better, or get more skilled. It inspires you to want to quit playing.

- Panax heals it also. Always carry one with you ;-)
- Precious pearl does away with every curse and ailment of every character and fills up their focus. (You‘ll earn one per sea cave you clear.)

Panax and pearls remove acid effects if you get afflicted,
and always focus-fire down any acid-bestowing baddies first and you should be fine.

Yeah was so sad when my Daimos Helmet got melted off :(

Acid? What about the hermit crab that auto hits and destroys an equipped item? I used to play Warhammer Quest with some friends and I was introduced to the game as being very rough and unforgiving. It was a &$%#ing walk in the park compared to this game. I can't get past lvl 5 after coming back to it after 1st playing. They must have made some terrible "improvements".

Stuff can get auto incinerated, sure, pretty rare, never happened to me with a crab,
those inferno demon boss guys, yes,
but it seems like the designers wanted to create a game for folks
who enjoy overcoming adversity? A small subset of gamers these days it seems...
Game is totally working as intended, it seems to me, love it.

It is super important to pass out panax to everyone. I know because of the way the economy / inflation works that isn't easy unless you use house rules, but it saves you a lot of headaches.

Enflamed / poison will also do a ton more damage to you over a long fight then you'd assume ..poison also decreases your stats ( including hit chance) more and more every round until it falls off or is cured.

But yea, wait till you see a guy that just auto-destroys an item instantly with a regular attack, or eats herbs out of your bags the same way... I kind of agree that's a bit too harsh in a game like this, it isn't as though you have the time and money to buy an infinite amount of consumables... they can randomly and instantly destroy unique items as well... acid is at least curable.

As an aside, being level 0 / anonymous on steam hurts your credibility a lot when you give advice or opinions on balance.

In that case, is there gear - special metal, perhaps? - that is immune to the acid attack?
Gadzooks Mar 3, 2019 @ 4:19pm
nope

There is a rare item you can wear the gives you acid immunity, but its super rare. If you actually get hit with acid, you are outa luck

By rare I mean it may not ever show up in the game you are playing.

Hmm, aren't characters persistent? Sorry for stupid questions. I thought there was a campaign and several maps? I just bought the game today and haven't played yet - instead reading guides.
