Mimics and how to spot them for beginners

It seems that if a character has lockpicks in their inventory, then if the treasure chest is actually a Mimic, you get no Use Lockpicks option, just Open or Pass,
so no need for an identify scroll, just scoot on by.

There are tons of chests with loot without a lock and there are occasional mimics with a lock. A lot of treasure maps also lead to mimics sadly... I don’t think there is any hard and fast way to identify them like in many other games aside from the identify scroll. If you can pierce though, mimics are not a threat.
