Most classes can become other roles with the right gear, assuming the stat is at least 70. Hunters can make a great tank or a great DPS.
My personal lineup always contains Hunter and either Busker or Minstrel, but that's mainly because I'm fond of Bards in roleplaying. Sometimes I have my hunter tank using dagger and shield and other times I use a bow, just depends on what I can find in the shops. Advice in pinned thread say the lute sucks but I think it's great, Party group debuffs are very useful. Single target Rush is very, very good as well since it basically trades the characters turn with another character, esentially giving them two turns in a row.
What would you like you party be like?
Possible options to choose:
- Must have one to deal loads and loads of dmg to maybe even one-shot enemies.
- Must have a character that will go first in battle and has high mobility in the map.
- Must have certain skill (e.g. party heal)
- Must be able to have support abilities/ boost or buff friendlies
- must earn more gold than usual
- ...
Like Revolucas said, anything works really. But ask yourself what you play like then I‘m able to help. :-)
One of each; Blacksmith-Hunter-Minstrel (did this twice)
All Blacksmiths
All Hunters
Mixed parties are more fun due to diversity but harder to manage. All Blacksmith was alot of fun but keeping weapons was tough. They died at end of the Maze and 2 were still using starter hammers after breaking other weapons.
My funnest group was all Hunters.. I started it thinking it would be a quick test. They made it all the way to the third room in the final sea castle before finally being beat down. I went all evade so each only had like 9AR but had 50+ evade. They made most enemies miss... but when they were hit it was painfull. I never did find any really good bows and my middle one ended up going gold spear. I may try this group again with all polearms.
Hunters are very good, probably too good.
If you want a bit of a challenge don’t use hunter, monk, nor herbalist.
To be fair though, every character is unique and can excel in a specific way. Sometimes even hobo is good. Sometimes... very rarely... although mostly he‘s the one to take if you want a challenge
