I'd say Dark Carnival and Night Market are both important places that can heavily influence your gameplay. And they are cheap. Bronze/Silver/Gold statues are also good but they need to be unlocked first. Sacrificing stone is good in Master difficulty as you start the game with you life pool empty and Chaos increases pretty fast.
The items: Boots of Haste and Kuro's Mask are my early game personal favs. Don't go for the expensive ones early if you can't get that far, as they only show up pretty late (at the middle of act 3) in the game.
Trainer in mini-encounters is also nice.
