Unlock other characters

I saw some people say that the hobo has to be unlocked in solo player. I"m creating a new game with random characters and running in all different directions to cover as much ground as possible and I've never seen a purple ? in for the king single player. I am getting bored.

The other ones, single player only too?

Does the purple ? pop up when you find it, like, it's somewhere in the world and you have to find it? or will it randomly show up if I just sit here and click next turn forever?

I've been making new games of all hunters and running in every direction and quitting when i hit ocean with no ? that is purple. It's not working!

it's not fair. he wanted 10 more gold than I had. and it took me 3 turns to run to a town and back with a pile of money and he disappeared. This stinks.

To anyone in the future:

To unlock the hobo go start a single player game with one character, a huntsman, because you can run away easier. Earn exactly 40 gold. Click next turn while the world burns around you. If you die of chaos then start a new game and do it again. If you see a purple ? then run from every fight on the way there and give them the 40 gold. that's it. That's the best way as far as I can tell.
I haven't unlocked any further characters so I don't know if they require single player also.

Unlocked Hobo yesterday on our 2nd campaign in a 3 player coop game without any of us knowing what the purple ? was, so just got lucky I guess.

Yeah we unlocked him in an online co-op game last night, didn't know what it was til after we finished playing and checked the lore store

Monk was in the ice quest map in a cave, on the second island.. yeti had em trapped pretty simple unlock, but was in single player, but pretty sure it's in multiplauer, not sure where the final character unlock is but it's probably in a different play mode

I did not see a purpe ? But I stumbled across him wandering around....the hex said " an act of kindness" so I went there, he asked for 63 gold, and I gave it to him...then he was available in lore store. He's just....meh.

unlocked hobo in online coop and defeated the dragon

-For the Hobo > Find the Friend in need encounters in the For the King Campaign, you got to give him gold

-For the Monk > Find the Yeti snow cave in the Frost Campaign, you got to make a sucesfull roll to save him after fighting the Yeti

-For the Treasure Hunter > You got to rescued him from the Whale's Belly in the Into the Deep campaign
