Fergus the Mad is a bit ridiculous
Me and my friends were on our way to fight a level 4 fergus the mad, by the time we got there he was level 6, we were level four. in the fight we noticed he could only be hit by perfect attacks, fair enough. we almost beat him when he stole my gold and ran away. then we had to fight him at full health again after using all our focus. this is ridiculous 1) he shouldn't level up as we do, how are we supposed to fight him if he gets stronger in line with us? 2) he shouldnt be able to run away and come back into a fight with full health, at least have him lose what he had lost in the fight before

All of the scourges level up over time and that is fine. I do agree that it's a bit rough to have him jump away and then be back at full health right away, but it's a rouge-like games and not made to be easy. Hopefully you get him.

Gotta taunt him! He'll stick around to get back at you, and you can keep peppering him. Also, the scourges will level up at a new day, so your best to fight him near the end of a night, that way: you'll be as close to his level as possible.

Try getting a silver padlock early in the game, as it makes you immune to steals- in turn making him unable to escape. Make sure to equip it before the fight and dequip after.
After killing Fergus, just sell the padlock and be on your merry way! Hope this helps.

hes tricky, but doable. i dont really see why everybody is complaining because they cant get him the first time. its a challenging game, dont be a sissy. people always want everything to work exactly the way they need it, but in a random game you will never have that and thats good, people are too used to perfectly planned meta.

What if I don't have a taunt? Maybe i want my blacksmith to be full offense or maybe I don't even want to play with a blacksmith. At the very least could you guys consider letting players change weapons during battle at the cost of a turn?

Totally agree. This isn't the only game where you have to have a precise build to deal with certain enemies. But in every game it's frustrating, so should not go into game design!

You can only taunt him once. And basically, if he's anywhere near you in level, you cannot beat him, as far as I am concerned! If you had herbs sold more often at reasonable prices. More herbs that give you focus and so on, maybe. But at the moment, I just leave this scrouge alone and let him do his thing. Not something that should be in game design I feel!

If they have that evasive ability where only perfect attacks hit, find some way to apply the wet status effect to him. It negates that ability if I remember correctly.

What do I need to get that adds the wet status? And how would anyone know that other than just randomly play in a random game?! That's too much random for me!

Just use a buff that protects you from getting stolen from and put all the money on that char. Alternatively, spend it all before engaging Fergus.
Then beat him by using focus and weapons with 1 or 2 slots.

Mage got a Deathray and poured all his focus into it. It was satisfying to see after the last few times we encountered him.

oh wow! I had no idea that all along, the secret to winning in this game is "not being such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥".
i'm so glad we have helpful players like you to give us such pro tips

edit : i just defeated him, without using taunts.
my strategy was high damage weapons, lots of focus, a couple of interrupts(reset, not stun, he's immune to stun) and a lot of luck. . which may have been the gimmick, luck , that is. given it's a leperchaun and the building is called lucky's lair and the prize is a helm that gives luck.

You just answered a post that's 5 years old. What do you think are the chances the poster will read your answer?

He's been necro'ing a ton of threads. It's not like these forums are particularly active tho.
