Is this game worth getting right now?
It's on sale for summer, but after reading through a lot of reviews I've found the following information:

1) Game is good
2) but 100% luck based

I think the game looks really interesting but if there's next to nothing I have control over, I'm not super interested. You could say "oh D&D is luck too since it's all rolls" but yeah, I still have a lot of choices and interesting things I can do, which from the reviews I've read this game lacks.

Convince to buy (or not buy) this game.

Thanks.

I've heard a few things involving the RNG, an conclusion to that concern, they are fine. Assuming the rumors with the tech side of the game being the cause of rng then the developer has probably already heard about it. Otherwise? It's like rolling dice and it is exciting.

If you have friends I say go for it, it's easy to pick up and leads to an exciting night (or day) of slogging through the game. It's solid and has a full game, being early access I need to say this is the best early access game I've ever played. It feels like a complete indie game but with the promise that theres more coming. Minor balence fixes, new features, things like that.

Things you might feel the pain for out of gate is simply this "herbs are good, not much healing outside herbs, herb prices go through the roof almost immedietly" So sit back, relax, laugh when your friends miss the game winning clutch roll, and enjoy. If you die, no big deal go to the lore store and get some trinkets to help you out, and set out for another quest.

I say go for it, especially since it is on sale. It's worth full price and golly its been a timesink for me and my friends. solo games aren't too bad, games with randoms are harder to find but also fun, but in both those you might feel a bit more burn if luck isnt in your rolls.

ps. if the developer reads this post, once you get a full release I hope you plan on dlc or add ons to give us random main quests or some more goodies. Game is solid but I'm unsure how many more times we can go through the quest before it gets old.

Have fun

im not going to convince you of anything since thats not my job

my review was positive and that opinion didnt change as of yet
tho its not a game for everyone

i have no idea what 100% luck based, nothing i have control over
is supposed to mean

atm there is the main story line
this one is pretty fixed and absolutely limits your options
you have to go from a to b in a hurry and theres no variance in it
if you dont, you lose

theres supposed to come a free mode as well as different main quests
but as of now these are just future plans

the premise, especially with multiplayer is insane
if the stuff promised will be added, its gonna be hands down one of the best rogues on steam eventually

atm its not as boring as you make it sound but eventually youll get tired after seeing everything there is

id say put it on your wishlist and revisit once free mode is here

I could have purchase the game right now but knowing that I have to wait for the full version for the 2 players balance, then it remains on my wishlist. It's quite saddening.

2 players balance? Not ideal, I know, but you could have one of you take the Herbalist as an additional party healer... its not ideal if you specifically want a 2 player experience, but then you've got a herb/heal mule whilst you both pick characters you actually like.

Whoever said the game is 100% luck based 100% has no idea what they're talking about. :-) Oh it has RNG for sure, and it can be brutally unfair... or unbelievably lucky. But all opinions aside - to say there is no control, tactics, careful thought or planning, or player input is just plain wrong.

Raythrs + Omni's advice is spot on.

Dont miss out on a great game. Enjoy the defeats and the victories. ;-)

I forgot to say buy it, its amazing.

the game is not 100% luck based, you have quite a lot of decisions to make. You have to plan out your strategies, get used to the game, and understand its mechanics.

I always make it end game after only 4 play throughs because i found strategies that work even if i recieve bad "luck"...so for people saying its pure luck, you learn its actually not after a few games and get the mechanics down solid.

You start to understand what your team can handle, what item purchases are worth it, what item drops are worth it, when to use/replenish/how to replenish focus. the list goes on.

No, this game is not 100% luck based, but it's at an higher enough percentage to make the game not fun. They totally have to nerf it by at least 50% for easy mode and make normal mode what easy mode is now.

It's like any RNG take it or leave it. The game itself is a bug thumbs up with the new patch to how chaos works.
