FInal boss
Is complete bull. is a completly and utterly dumb final boss. you can't beat that one.

Sidenote, first game and got to the final boss.

Sidenote, That is not a difficulty spike from the final enemys, thats a difficulty cliff.

Agreed, the final act and in particular the final boss still needs some tuning. It's our number one design priority. There's a mechanic that will make the final boss much easier, don't want to give away spoilers, but it's not fully functional yet. I can't believe you made it that far!

Though, i would say that nerfing is not the way to go about that boss in paticular, more like artifacts that stop you from Stat reducing effects, though would like to see more enemys that have the option to employ stat debuffs, for it could be nicer than getting cursed or something. wherin its immediatly more dangerous but less longer term effects.

Or to make the boss break the game dynamic dramaticly changing the battle.

just beat the final boss no problem, granted it was on easy. But I was told "normal" is not normal at all. I was 2 levels above the final boss and didnt loss anyone. Not bad for a first run through

The relentless assualt even under Evasion and speed items caused me to lose in the "tower". I don't know if there is more beyond the top of the tower, but he literally burned my 45 armor 18 resist blacksmith from 98 to 0 in 2 round all focus firing off of him. I feel like there is some resistance imbalance in the game atm, I have lost more parties to spam aoe casts over 2 enemy turns then to any other single mechanic. Even using an Herbalist with spamming party heal didnt break the onslaught.

I understand that difficulty needs to spike at certain instances, and with prepation and understanding I'm getting through to the final act pretty reliably, but with a fully equip party with all members over 40 attacks dmg and high end (Assasin, wizard, and royal) equipment, to lose in 2 rounds seems a bit unreasonable.

18 resist is very very low. I usually use my blacksmith as a taunt bot with as much health and resistances possible, she only needs to be able to OHK the wisps, she ain't a damage dealer. Keep in mind that if your resist is same value as attacker's ATK value, your character will resist debuffs and damage, so having high resists is more important than armor IMHO given that most annoying / dangerous enemies use magic. As long as you don't take more than 1/4 of your HP in a taunt round from melee attacks your armor is in a good spot, so focus rest on resists by combining gear, giving more resist from your mage / herbalist or bard / minstrel on the tank etc.

Not saying that end boss (and possible other difficult enemies / fights) don't need some tunning, but you really need to balance your defenses on a blacksmith if you are using it to taunt.
Sanat Mar 2, 2017 @ 10:41am
The thing is I wasnt using it to taunt, he just had very low evasion compared to my other characters, took every hit of aoe to the face and died at lvl 11 at the top of the tower before having his second turn. I understand that imbalances of stats will cause a weakness to one, but having what is supposed to be the tankier character die, in 2 rounds, with full high end gear on, from aoe, seems imbalanced. As for 18 being a low value, I would be beg to differ. 18 is probably lower middle in terms of item availabilty with 14 being low and 26 being high. This doesnt take into account that the "adds" in that fight have a 1 fill in aoe spell that they basically never miss. Also, for sake of arguement, my distraction skill never proc'd in all 6 of the enemy turns to stop a single aoe from essentially causing this situation.

blacksmiths first turn was to use the evasion consumbale to get to 30 something evasion. bad rng is bad rng, but the fight is overtuned.
Anelyn Mar 2, 2017 @ 10:48am
Your HP doesn't matter as much as your defenses. Let's say you have 100 hp at lvl 11 pretty common for a blacksmith. My minstrel alone can deal 56 dmg, and my herbalist 89 (both with splash dmg on perfect). Also if you get frozen, you take 25% more damage (there is a pair of shoes with 3 armor and immunity to frozen, or you can use other items: necklace / talisman etc).

So it's very reasonable to die in 2 rounds especially since BS is one of the slower characters to get their turn. My BS at lvl 10 had 64 armor and 58 resist, minstrel and herbalist had higher resists but much less armor (like 28-34 armor if memory serves).

Couple hints: carry on your pref. hero a switchable set of gear that gives you highest luck possible so that you get resist from every well. Use all the resist consumables on him / her. Use party wide resist trinkets / talismans. Use guardtown gear it gives much more armor and resists unlike the other set (you don't really need STR that much).

The numbers your listing aren't what I have seen in 5 different tower attempt groups. You have to be manipulating some part of the game I do not know exists outside of farming the map for +1 items.
Anelyn Mar 2, 2017 @ 11:07am
I am not lol. After about 30 playthroughs till airship part I've learnt enough about what matters regarding combat and how it works, and what you can do to improve your odds of not getting wiped in first 2 rounds of combat.

Simply put just mix gear to get as much resistance on your tank as possible, since your - in my case minstrel and herbalist - will already have innate higher resists due to their specific gear sets. Doing the non-quest dungeons and the chaos buildings (the 1 hard fight vs scourges) will give you access to some very good / rare loot (epics / artifacts etc), there are also the night shops and wandering merchants, the resistance potion from shops / bees, the wells with poison - luck based event, the armor / resist statue etc.

Im curious, when you guys say "final boss", do you mean the "first" boss in act 1 at the end of the mines?

Or are people reaching the "end" boss already?

dafuq?
Anelyn Mar 2, 2017 @ 11:11am
Tower boss, the mines is 1st act.
IceBankMiceElf Mar 2, 2017 @ 1:00pm
I guess this is the resist stat you need to win, because she tanked the boss from full to nothing, using 1 death lotus and 2 golden focus plants.

My mage died early, so I ran away. Which put me right back in the fight, with him still dead, but with all of his damage now reset... The trapper with a bow dodged his way through the first chaos monster, but died to the second one. The blacksmith with a vitality/speed sword soloed the rest, using mostly guaranteed focus hits.

It was ugly, and I think it could have gone a lot better, but F it, I WIN.

How many floors are in the tower, I died to the dodgie guys on 3rd floor only because of the armor pierce they do. Not bad for my 4th run though.

If you guys are beating the game on normal difficulty already congratulations!

If you guys are beating the game on normal difficulty already and without save scumming then I'm legitimately impressed.
