You can heal more with firesilk or use dead lotus in case of emergency - though these items are limited and i recommend to prio buying them from night markets early game (video of beating game on master, posted earlier, shows that you can win game even without dead lotuses, but i always use dead lotuses versus Vexor -> managed to bit him without lotuses only with Royal Lance / high awa and pretty much keeping vexor in permanent stun/shock).
Some enemies do hit crazy amounts, but you should leverage it with paying attention to defensive gear (i value damage output and speed more, though). Confuse immunity always help, as well as to have distraction in your characters\ skills (noise makers are close to being the best trinkets imho) + late game you wanna have at least one shock weapon or utilize daze attack by lutes or hammers/maces or stun by lances.
It is hard, but not impossible to leverage this madness, just a matter of getting a feel what kind of gear would be balanced. Scourge which interrupts and confuses everyone (do not remember the name, the time wizzard or something) is a special case though -> fight with him can go nuts rather easy.
I would even say that the worst outcome of confuse is character fleeing - this is a bit too much IMHO.
Normal is challenging.
They just obliterate armour/resists and then one shot the group one by one.
2. Use at least 1 shock weapon or mass-stun (like royal lance)
3. Have firesilk in your pocket (so heal with tinder pouch before the fight and keep firesilk for the fight, one per character)
The three most easy fights i had were (all three on normal, on master i won once and was VERY lucky run with 12-13 level characters going into the final fight and pretty much top gear):
- mass stun 6 turns in a row (with and without focus) with royal lance
- lightning bow with barely any lost perfects keeping Vexor in perma-shock + 2 of characters were immune to close to all status effects, so i could disintegrate wolves gradually with no resistance placed on them
- having spinner on hunter + chaos stuff (or whatever it is called, maybe Wizzard stuff) on scholar. Both of them allow less accurate rolls with double damage (destroyed both wolves in 2 rounds pushed around 100 damage on Vexor in one hit)
My rolls are always extremely low even though I have decently high percentages, and the enemies' rolls are always extremely high to the point where they almost never miss and do maximum damage every time they attack. This is on apprentice difficulty.
I am very frustrated by the game's difficulty, but I've only lost 3 times now and plan to at least try a few more times.
Among hard games, I feel this game's difficulty is just slightly too hard. The enemy's rolls are so clearly favored and have way higher percentages than my own, which are almost always low even when I have good stats. The games makes me feel like I have no choice but to get ♥♥♥♥ on by the clearly heavily favored enemies which just focus down my one weaker hero until he's dead, they don't even attack my other two (and of course taunt always fails).
Do more experienced players have tips, or is the game really just near-impossibly hard? I'm not an inexeperienced or untalented gamer in any sense, but this game is kicking my ass which is rare, and I'm getting frustrated.
Me and my friends have determined the best way to play the first two acts is to get as many gbs as possible and have a party healer with pipe lvl 2 at least by maze.
Shock is a great ability to have on your side. Use focus sparingly, but not too sparingly since various things refill it as you play. Plus, its effects are tremendous. First, you get to clear one roll automatically, then you raise the percent chance for each subsequent roll.
All gamers have different skill levels, and if you fail time after time on EASY, what is the point?.
The answer is always "it's a rogue like", but even rogue likes have to be entertaining - not a pain in the ass. They ARE games, after all!
Basicly the %'s or total BS. If you got a 90% or about your'll hit like expected. 80% is more like 60% and 70% is well who knows.
The key is FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.. get as much xp as possible. Try to make every move a combat were you are 3v 2 or 1 on them.
Get as much heal herbs as possilbe. A party heal is a must with pipe level 2.
Spend money on the herbs over the equipment. Save your equipment money for the good stuff. Most of the time you will pick up the equipment you need from battels.
Oh and just get used to dieing a lot at first. I sucks but as you build lore and buy stuff in the lore store it gets easier.
I haven't beat the game yet but got very close.
Last thing... At the end you get to choose to do one last dungeon as optional... don't. There dosn't seem to be any great items in it just xp and random drops. But at late game you are so low on healing herbs you will waste them in the optional dungeon.
