Voice commands not working
I have the Oculus Rift S and purchased the Star Trek Bridge Crew: The Next Generation game. In general, the game is awesome and works great. The only problem is, the voice commands don’t work. There’s no error when I attempt voice command mode. I hold down the Orders button (Button A on my right Oculus Touch Controlller, (among trying other button combinations), but the system doesn’t listen for a command. My mic works fine, because I’ve played multiple Co-op games with friends who can always hear me in missions. Can anybody help?

Voice commands were removed by Ubisoft in late 2019 after the licence for IBM Watson which processes the voice commands ran out and they did not renew it, and it was removed from all versions, PC and PSVR.

That is disgraceful. How could they make a license agreement that once expired, removes features from software sold while the license was valid? I sure hope their license to Star Trek is worded better so that the game doesn't just break when it expires.

Isn't there some sort of legal right like prescriptive right to continue using something that has been used? I think the fact that they disabled a feature on the software I already purchased and hid it under a lie calling it an update makes it even worse. Any attorneys out there? Lets file a class action.

All we as consumers can do these days is not give our cash to said companies, i had to buy this game twice as the Oculus version they sold me has hardware DRM and won't work without a Oculus VR HMD, so i had to buy the steam vr version also to play this on the Vive......and Ubisoft support basically told me "tough luck sucker, byeeeee".......so lesson learned and byeeee to any future ubisoft anything.......it's all we consumers can do at this point.

Ubisoft works backwards from normal games. They actually lose features over time and gain bugs rather than fixes.

If the voice commands feature has been removed, then I wonder why Ubisoft support is still having me troubleshoot and send them data from my laptop, for the support ticket I created over a week ago. You would think that someone from their department would have advised that it's not supported and closed out my ticket by now.

^^^Here is a link to the official reply on their forums.....dated 04/03/20

After extending the availability of the IBM Watson powered voice recognition feature in Star Trek: Bridge Crew for over a year, this beta feature is being discontinued today.

Thanks to all the players that used the feature and gave us valuable feedback. We extend our thanks to IBM's Watson team. Together, we learned invaluable lessons on the possibilities of this technology.

Remember that you can still issue orders to your NPC crew via the menu-based commands. Live long and prosper!

yep but without ability to bind commands or any other useful functions - menu navigation is stone age slow for a star trek universe. Maybe some 3rd party app like voice attack could have been used if they had the forsite of a few basic key commands

even indie games now have working voice commands and they don't need ibm to hold their
hand. Alot of dross will fail this year perhaps ubisoft is one that deserves to become past tense.

Is it possible to use Voice Attack for this?

without keybinds to set to a voice attack profile i havent seen an easy way. But im new to voice attack an i think it would be possible if we could find the original Watson 'macros' or whatever the were keyed to the original voice commands

so pissed off now. I saw this feature on youtube and was so excited. Bought the game and so disappointed this is gone! Atleast provide ability to provide key binds so we can use voice attack to bring back a feature they should have been able to implement! Lazy developers, garbage.
