Start ocolus > then steam VR (right clicking the steam icon) > the start button in you library should now change to "start in VR"
The touch controllers will now be recognized completely
Thanks for your replies in this thread. I'm sorry that it was missed previously, and that we did not offer a response until now. I'll do my best to help with your queries about playing Star Trek: Bridge Crew using the Oculus Quest and/or Rift, and with the Oculus Touch controllers.
Regarding Star Trek: Bridge Crew on Steam, the supported headsets stated on the store page include the Oculus Rift, but not the Oculus Quest. The Oculus Touch controllers are supported for the Rift version of the game (mentioned in our forum post here[forums.ubisoft.com] about the versions of the game available per platform). If playing the game using an Oculus Rift with the Touch controllers, as VR Kirito aka Akumaryu kindly advised, it is best to first start up the Oculus app so that the headset and controllers are ready for use, before then selecting to run Star Trek: Bridge Crew in SteamVR.
If you are seeing your controllers incorrectly recognised as Vive controllers, can you please advise me of whether your headset is correctly recognised, and if you have tried completely disconnecting it and reconnecting it?
Regarding the Oculus Quest: due to the Oculus Quest requiring the use external software (such as ALVR or Virtual Desktop) to work with SteamVR wirelessly, I'm unable to guarantee that the Touch controllers will be correctly detected in-game, as the method of connecting the headset and controllers is not direct. My best recommendation would be to use the Oculus Link, as this involves a direct link to your PC via a USB cable, however this would mean sacrificing the wireless nature of gameplay, which I imagine many of you purchased the Quest for over the Rift. I hate to say it, but Oculus Support and Steam Support would therefore be the best teams to speak to for advice on how to make their tools interact properly with each other, as the issue itself lies outside of our game.
If there's anything further that I can do to help, I'll gladly try to assist further.
- Ubisoft Support
When starting SteamVR through Virtual Desktop it detects the controllers as the Quest's, the problems start when opening the games since it detects them as if they are the Oculus Touch controllers or sometimes even as if they were Valve controllers. If you play using Oculus Link, even with the game bought through Steam, the game detects the Quest controllers just fine and button mappings are usable. Since it's possible to do with Oculus Link it should be possible to do with Virtual Desktop. Is there maybe a special parameter to pass to the executable to force a specific controller?
