Controller setup options?

I'm about to buy the game, but first I'm curious to know what the controller options are for the non-VR users. I've read so far that you can use keyboard and mouse, but can you use a throttle and joystick setup as well, and is there key mapping?

I don't think throttle and joysticks are supported options but I don't have one with me to test but XBOX One controllers definitely are (and therefore I assume PS4 controllers would be possible as well but since I am not a PS player I don't have one to test) and in my opinion are the best way to go. The controls are fairly intuitive once you get used to them and that doesn't take long.
