Star Trek: Bridge Crew

Star Trek: Bridge Crew

Cheapest vr setup to start playing?
I have the tower, I have a smartphone that i doubt i can use if i can great. The criteria i am looking for is cheapest vr headset that can play this game with vr controllers. I am looking the feasability of local play. Does everyone need a tower or will 1 tower do? If 1 tower works does everyone need a copy of the game to join

Truthfully if your PC isn't up to snuff and price is an issue, go with a PS4 + PSVR setup. Its tough to get a good enough gaming PC in that price range that will run VR well. Bridge Crew seems to work just fine on PSVR and I've played several rounds with PSVR players with no issue.
You can use your smartphone, buy an HMD for it (there are from $5 to $300) and TrinusVR, but beware you will not have absolute positioning.

The VR controllers are more difficult, unless you buy an Oculus or Vive I think it's not feasible, there is the project PSMoveService which uses the PS Move controllers and a camera, but haven't tried how well it works.

And about the towers, yes, everyone needs a tower and a copy of the game.

Also, you must be sure your machine has at least the minimum specs to run VR games.

If your rig isn't good enough, then go PS4 + PS VR.

If you do nto have VR yet I suggest waiting till after E3. New cheaper headsets are coming and you will have a better idea what your options are
Ok thank you for the responses so far i would like a response from someone who has attempted the ps move controllers or if they have had success with any vr controllers. I do have a tower that can handle the vr i just don't have more than 1. Now i do have a PS4 but do i need 1 ps4 per player as well?

Yes, but you can cross play, one can play on PC and other on the PS4
i would have never checked for that crossplay is rare. Thanks Doc.
Afaik PSVR requires PS4 Pro.

Also, there is a third-party driver to make PSVR work with SteamVR on PC (Trinus PSVR[trinusvr.com]). Following links there is a PSMove driver also. I don't own PSVR nor any PS4 so I haven't tried any of this.

No, it doesn't requires pro, I have a regular PS4 and it works flawlessly.
Acer VR Headset, $299 inside out tracking, twin 1440x1440 displays (higher than Vive or Rift) 95 degree FOV, 90hz, built in audio.

No external trackers required, just plug it in and map the room- load SteamVR off you go.

I'm waiting myself the release of those to buy a headset for my PC :)

I own a Rift and controllers but I am 100% going to buy the Acer consumer unit when it comes out.
The Acer and any other hololens based solution, i wait for the real reviews. All the initial comments are that is almost good.
Other option is NoloVR (that has been tested by a few reviewers out there and all of them are pretty happy)... You also need some hmd, but can be almost any device out there (diy, deepon, pi4k, cellphone based, etc)
A couple of beers, a pack of Marlboro and i let you play at my home.

Can't get much cheaper than that : )
If by having the tower you mean you have a desktop tower, then check this tool (auto downloads): http://ocul.us/compat-tool

That will tell you if your PC is Oculus ready (same requirements for VIVE) After that, I'd saying getting Oculus + touch controllers for $600 is your cheapest option and will get you the best bang for your buck (comes with lots of free content and plays both Oculus and Steam VR games).

If you already own a PS4 (no need for PRO) then you can get PSVR for $400 plus you'll need a PS camera and move controlls (don't spend $100 on these you can get cheap used PS3 move controllers that still work).

On Best Buy you can get the full PS VR set (HMD + Camera + Moves) for 445$
