Making a cheat...
for the Kobayashi Maru. Bannable offence or canon?

If you're in multiplater, probably bannable. I've only played the scenario once, but reading online it sounds like the ships will just keep coming until you lose, or the ship gets destroyed.

Quiton Stone was able to beat the Kobayashi Maru test without cheating in "Rock and a Hard Place". The simulation developers cried for a week.

Nog was able to defeat it in two different ways, using Ferengi techniques. But we don't have a ferengi avatar choice yet, so we have to wait for that one - and Oo-mox.
