UPDATE 5pm UK: Hype Train Digital has confirmed to Eurogamer why it changed the developer on Steam for The Wild Eight from Fntastic to Eight Points.
The change was made yesterday, which Hype Train has confirmed was due to the game receiving negative reviews on Steam following the debacle with The Day Before.
"Fntastic was the original developer of The Wild Eight, but after the game's release in Early Access, the developers decided to discontinue work on the project due to internal reasons within the studio. Hypetrain Digital took over the development independently. All business relations with Fntastic were terminated in 2017," reads the response to Eurogamer.
idiot
Did anybody say the developer name wasn't changed? Because I haven't seen anyone saying that and that's all your data shows.
how about this?
8points/eightpoints is Fntastic too, i think they forgot to deleted it too

ok i'll copy the text here
"On another note, developers of The Wild Eight are proud to present their new name – Fntastic! During the whole development process the team has grown up – both in experience and amount of people (and previous name Eight Points was mainly about the first eight developers who started it all). To express gratitude to the ones who worked on The Wild Eight but left the team we would like to keep Eight Points as the second developer."
Then here again fresh from the press

They where the OG Devs and where basically credited and that it .
Hypetrain has taken over since 2017 what is so hard to understand about that literally?
It's no one's fault but Hypetrain's for the nonsensical decision. Not only did they change the name back to a name that only Fntastic used in the past (which doesn't change the fact that the original devs were still Fntastic, and such info is quick to look up as shown with this confusion), but they failed to make the name change announcement either at the time of the change or after the TDB debacle, in order to PROPERLY distance themselves from Fntastic. Even if Fntastic was the original devs, it's been long enough now (since 2017) that Hypetrain should have labeled themselves as the developers. This confusion is entirely on them.
Aaaawww... How cute. Your story is false.
The reality is, Eight Points is the new studio dev of this games, since 12 december. And, Eight Points is the old name of Fntastic.

A bit due diligence would let you know that the original Eight Point Devs had internal conflicts back then they grew in Size while Developing The Wild eight.
Then the game got Sold the original Eight Point Devs split away and the remaining Staff (Probably those who brought the internal issues) Remained and rebranded as Fntastic.
HypeTrain left Fntastic basically there to still credit them. And there was no need to change anything. Then TDB hits and HypeTrain sees it burning and sees an influx of uninformed idiots who buy the game review bomb it and refund. Now a company with whom they have no connection at all for years damages their Product. So they go in and want to still credit the original creator eight point but also want to distance themself so they changed it up that's it.
Now you have a bunch of idiots running around spreading misinformation without researching a bit more. For example here https://steamcommunity.com/app/526160/discussions/0/1483235412197477924/?l=koreana&ctp=2

Guys, Alex here, former developer of The Wild Eight.
I can not disclose how the internal affairs of the company go, but I want to speak out as a real human being.
The game was sold because of legal problems with unscrupulous partners within company (not with the publisher, we really appreciate the support and work of HypeTrain).
Something bad happened, and the whole development team felt very bad about it. We did not want to betray the trust of our community, but we simply had no other choice.
That's life. There is no big tragedy here. The most important thing you should know
that the game continues to evolve. As d.a.dekhs said, the game will be finished, filled with new stuff and released as planned.
By the way, before we transferred the project to HypeTrain, we did a lot of work on the game, so even when the final version of the game is released - remember that the influence of the original
developers will still be here. Thank you for listening.
