Hey devs, fix the map. Ever since your recent update the entire map is blackened out.

Ok, here's the deal: If you start a NEW game then the map's fine. But if you load a saved game, then the map is still black....Can that be fixed?, or do we have to start over in order to use the map function?

The issue is fixed for us on pre-conversion saves now, but any post-conversion saves are still broken, It also seems to be that each player has a copy of their own character data, Upon removing mine I had an effectively new character on the same server, but a functional map and the quest log up to where we previously got to.

Solution for restoring for me was to drop all my stuff off in a chest from the broken save, make a new character on the server and start again, picking up the stuff left by the corrupted character.

You got that right. Unfortunately the fix only works for the uncorverted saves. Your way of restoring the save data is really brilliant, though. I think we'll be reffering to it, every time people will be asking about their map still black after the update.

Hope, you don't mind:)

The problem is that, if you've already converted your save to the most recent version of the game the fix won't do any effect to your map. The only way is to open it back again, or start a new, which is frankly almost the same.

Great, that means 100 hrs of game time is flushed. I'm gonna have to start from scratch again. Not sure I have the ambition to do it now, maybe I'll come back in a few weeks and do it...(sigh)

Actually, there's one trick that could help you. I'll post it again as well, try it, maybe it will do something.

- Create a brand new save;
- Make a backup of your previous one. Just in case. You will find all your saves in Documents -> TheWildEight;
- Copy world.byte, and Quest.byte files into your brand new save;
- Launch the save and see if it had all your map, building and quests reinstated as they were before.

I am quite curious if the above solution works, if it does, it could save alot of people from losing character progression traits. Has anyone tried it yet?

I'm trying to figure out HOW to do it???...lol

I just gave it a go with my borked save, Sadly didnt seem to work.

Took the World.byte and Quests.byte files from my new save and put them in my old broken save (replacing the files). The map was still unfortunately black.

ya, I'm still trying to figure it out. I'll let you know if I find a fix....:(
