How do you connect for multiplayer?

Looking to get this for myself and a friend, we were wondering how joining eachother works? Are we able to join through Steam friends or is port forwarding required?

Sure thing you can join through Steam. I'm not very familiar with port forwarding thing, though it's hardly necessary in terms of our game.

The multiplayer will show up when you log into the game. Once you log into Steam and then click on the game, and click on start. it will take you to game menu with option of multiplayer or single. You can host a server of your own and tell your friend to join this server, server (insert name). You can also make it just where you and your friend play and no one else can join by making it private. Hope this helps.
