Doorways: Old Prototype

Doorways: Old Prototype

Smart move
It's cool that this was released for free, nice to see devs who don't try to milk money 100% of the time. Also I'd say it's a good business move, giving something for free will gain good will for the devs & if the people who play this for free that haven't played the other games yet like it, hopefully it will lead to more sales of the complete series.

Thanks

Very glad it is free- It would've been annoying to buy a game I thought was like Doorways but ended up with a bunch of platforming in it -most of the trailer is platforming. Glad you got away from most of that, at least in Ch 1&2 & Underworld, (didn't want the last one so not sure how it is in this reguard). :d_ghost::d_syringe:

Thanks guys! Glad you liked the idea :)

Right now it's not making too much impact in the store, but that's because of the market here at Steam, the game didn't even appeared in the Popular New Releases (even being for free).

But we're happy just to know you, the followers of the series, liked it :)

Have a great weekend!

My Steam store page had it on the front page, that's how I found out about it (several hours ago).

I just hit the "browse all New Releases" and it's at the top- showing as dlc though. Perhaps you just looked before they had it up.

I have to be honest- I downloaded the Prototype game, but only watched the video on the store page later, but I hadn't started the game yet- after I saw all that platforming, I deleted it- it looks like irritation to me (I'm not much of a platformer). When most the video shows platforming, you assume much or most is that way- may want to show a better video, *IF* that impression isn't correct. If it is mostly or a LOT of platforming, I'd stick with the one you have. Point is, for 'some', it's a turn off, we don't play Doorways to platform, I'm there to find clues/background and be entertained by the story, not jump until I throw my keyboard acrossed the room! :D This is just feedback, not inteded to offend.

Yes, it's in All New Releases, but that really doesn't help too much.
I didn't see it in the front page though.

About the feedback, thanks. But this game is that simple, it's most about platforming. The interesting part are the notes about our story, the atmosphere and some flashbacks, but that's all. You maybe don't like it, and that's ok too :)

Well it's certainly made me want to buy the full game. I love finding out how games are developed (similar to what they did with Half-Life 2 dev commentary) and it fullfils the 'demo' criteria that most developers don't release anymore - personally, without a demo I need a lot more convincing to part with money unless at a severe sale reduction.

Loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the expereince created. Nice to know that when purchased the money will go to people who care rather than not noticed by a large corporation.

Thanks a lot! Glad you liked and hope you like the final games as well.

Halloween is coming so maybe you should wait for the discounts then ;)

I randomly found this Prototype when it was featured at the top of Steam's Store page one day. When I saw it was free, I looked into it and ultimately downloaded it in October, I think. I only today got to finish it though because something was broken before, but after I downloaded the DLC (unknown if that was a coincidence or not xD ) I was able to move on. Even before I could get to the second part, I loved the whole concept of this prototype. I really like games where I get to explore into places where most people wouldn't think to go (I still have some determination to get on top of the smashy pillars now that I have seen them (they were beyond the point I could go before)) and even more when I find treasures or secrets in those places. I also really like learning how games have developed and evolved and being able to see concept art and such. The notes in the Prototype appealed to me on several of those levels. ^D^ I immersed very well into this and I love the atmosphere and the environment (and I love being able to jump in games, especially to get to new places) and pretty much everything about it. After playing the Old Prototype, even before I could finish it but especially after, I want the other games, even if I have to save up a long time to get them. ^D^ So, good job devs! ^_^ Thank you for making this!

Agreed.

Exactly. Funny how greedy short sightedness can blind leaders of companies to such an obvious fact.
