.. Also an option to save/load worlds, please.
None the less, having your worshippers chop down forests (permanently) would be immensely cool. Especially if you as a god can replant the tile if it so pleases you.
Gameplay wise I'd like to see some more interaction with the world or villagers, I'm not exatly sure how to accomplish that. First I thought of events related to the worshippers, but I read that you would not want it to become a worker management game, so maybe that's a step in the wrong direction?
Maybe more options for the tiles? Perhaps you can spawn a 'major' tile with the grasslands for example, and then if one would wish, some 'minor' tiles to create a river along with some hills on top of the grassands.
Here's my thoughts, in what I reckon is a order of priority:
- Save file
- Stats, at global and also village level, giving population and "goods stockpile" and an indication of their health (expanding/shrinking etc)
- Tribes/cities relationships with each other.... leading to things like traders/caravans, wars and invasions, etc. A tribes natural "mindset" might be set using a formula similar to the old classic "Life".... some sort of hashcode based on the size of the village and the type of tiles it is in contact with... then, with the options listed below, tribal relationships would naturally and dynamically evolve as terrain alters!
- Deeper tilesets - maybe subsets of existing. For example grass might go deeper into "fertile, savannah, swamp".. possibly these subsets are locked but made available as the civilisation grows or other milestones? They could have different properties for the local villagers.
- Ability to replace/re-classify a tile that is not occupied by villagers. Maybe, as above, they can only be reclassified to one of the other subsets?
- Ability for villagers to modify their terrain. Again, maybe only to subsets within the curent group.
- Towns, volcanos, and maybe also large expanses of forest/oasis/desert/water get given randomised names
A save feature will probably be my next milestone when the performance problem is fixed.
Resource/Event Tiles :
- Ancient Temple Tile
the ancient temple tile can be used as a method of the humans discovering you, the god. And the people that believe in you will go to war with people who believe false gods.
- Spacecraft Crash Site Tile
Once the humans get a hold of this tile they will harvest the technology available and move on to the 4th and 5th age.
- Oil and Ore Deposit Tile
Once the humans reach the 4th age they can build oil drills to extract the oil and use it for their machines. They can also build a quarry which will extract the ore, the humans will use the ore for construction purposes.
- Cottonwood Tree Tile
It's pretty self explanatory. wood=cotton, cotton=fabric, fabric=clothes and hot air balloons.
Habitable Tiles :
- Ice Tile
Just make the already-existing ice tile habitable with igloos and caves.
- Island Tile
This tile can only be placed if surrounded by water, basically the island tile could serve as a trading point between nations that have progessed into the 3rd age and above. The Island will have two large shipyards on either side and will constantly have merchants sailing to/from it. If it is next to the tile below, it will instead be inhabited by the sea beasts.
- Sea Monster Tile
This is basically the water tile except if any human sails across it a large water dragon will swallow their wooden boats whole, if it's a big ship it will be dragged down into the abyss by the kraken. Any island tile placed next to it will not be populated by humans but instead by humanoid sea reptiles which will immediately declare war on the closest nation. They have a red exclamation mark on top of them indicating danger.
Pure Destruction Tiles :
- Pandemic Forest Tile :
If anyone dares enter this grass, they will immediately be infected by a disease which will slowly kill them and render them immobile. This tile is colored darker than regular grass tiles, making them distinguishable.
- Monster Nest Tile :
This tile will serve as a place for monsters and alike including the seabeasts, the ogres, and the dragons. once it gets to a certain population, humans will take notice immediately trying to exterminate them but to no avail.
These are some new unit types I thought of while sitting at a cafe!
Humans :
- Archers
In the second age the humans will build barracks to train archers to shoot dragons down. They will fire one arrow every two seconds.
- Spearmasters
These men hold spears and will fend off the seabeasts from emerging to land, there is a 50/50 they'll succeed. they are trained at the some location the archers are.
- Royal Guard Knights
Each civilization in the world that is in the 3rd age or above will have a royal guard made up of 5 members, the royal guard can slay any monster type with virtually zero effort except for the dragons.
- Metahuman
Any civilization above or at the 4th age can develop a "Metahuman" which can take down any supernatural threat and every monster, the metahuman is basically one punch man or superman without the laser beams.
Dragons :
- Dragon Civillians
The civillian dragons are innocent and will try to retreat/escape instead of going to battle.
- Indigowing Defenders
These dragons are the support class, they can create a flame shield in front of them to fend off arrows.
- Bluewing Warlords
These dragons are basically the DPS, they do all the wrecking while the indigos defend them.
- Armored Blackwings
They can be described as the tanks and will distract the humans away from the blues.
- Water Dragon
In the sea monster tile, the water dragon swallows rafts and wooden boats.
Ogres :
- Civilian Ogre
The civillian ogres are innocent and will try to retreat/escape instead of going to battle.
- Ogre Overlord
The Ogre overlord can instantly stomp on humans and has additional health and attack. It has black armor with spikes and plating around the knees and elbows.
- Regular Ogres
These ogres have pale yellow colored skin and attack with large clubs that can tear through any conceivable human shield.
- Hell Ogres
These are ogres that have been blessed by the fires of lucifer and the breath of the leviathan, it can summon the very flames of hell to burn its enemies.
Seabeasts :
- Civillian Seabeast
The civillian seabeasts are innocent and will try to retreat/escape instead of going to battle.
- Trident Wielders
These seabeasts have webbed protusions on either side of their head and have webbed feet, they wield large golden tridents which it uses to impale opponents with.
- Whippers
They have the exact same look of the trident wielders except that they use whips to attack they deal less damage but move quicker.
- Kraken
The Kraken will drag down merchant and pirate ships to the depths of the ocean where it will feast on their cadavers. The Kraken can also be considered as the king of the waters. It also can only drag down ships in the sea monster tile.
Different kind of lifeforms are not planned yet but it may be a thing in the future if enough people want it and if i have the possibility to find 3D models and animations for it. i'm alone to do all the work on this projects and my skills are more on the coding side.
The ice tile will probably be colonized really soon :)
The Spacecraft Crash Site Tile : This is the kind of crazy ideas that are only possible in early access. I want it on the game now. ^^
Thanks for you dedication and your feedback. Welcome aboard :)
