I really wish they had more series and games to explore the sinister corporation and experimentation on humans within the .hack universe and the many layers of The World game and some of the near Lovecraftian aspects brought up throughout.
I considered this particular game to be rather crappy... don't know any others, though.
Also, .hack seems a little more psychological and requires one to think about whats happening. And even with the children through out the new generation even in my family, I've noticed they don't like games that require skill or thinking as much as us old gamer's. If i was stuck for 8 months on a zelda puzzle-So be it-I WILL win-Eventually. But they can barely stand 8 minutes of problem solving before they are back on tiktok or some weirdo mobile game.
Anyway, Finial fantasy just out does itself. Its like every game it makes it needs to add more. MOORE MUSIC...MORE PRETTY GRAPHICS. MOOORE BATTLE..Bigger Better faster stronger...work it harder---doo do doo. And .hack needs to make a new set to the series....G.U was great...I felt like they were really getting somewhere adding more! -better faster stronger...then they added a vol 4 which I haven't played yet but I'm slowly perfecting my games on PC as I have on my PS2.
And now I'm hoping....I'm hoping that they have been working on something for VR. Something that they can be like HAHA OUR TIME HAS COME. VR IS REAL this is REAL-Have a new .hack series.
One can only hope though...
But man do I want a .hack game...MMO even....VR isnt exactly up to par with what .Hack would want but still....I better be alive when and if they ever produce a new game....
Also loved Dark Cloud 1 and 2 im happy they did a HD Remaster on the ps4.
Dot hack fragment had a fanbase running the network portion, you can connect via ps2 emulator and stuff.

The site returns a error now, i guess they closed it, although there was not very many people playing, and i think the game still had the punishing thing about getting a dc, for any reason instead of logging out properly and all your gear and gold was removed, so progression could pretty much be lost on a power outage or if windows decides to restart for an update, stuff like that. I sadly missed the ps2 days/2000's online golden age and often out of the loop as i had no internet growing up, out in the country, i just knew what news was told by ear or pcgamer magazines and stuff
I pretty much remember the other anime installments being the same thing, just less edgy. From what i've seen of the original games on PS2, they just looked...okay? They definitely weren't the game you buy the system for. They're also only on the PS2, meaning other than emulation (if that's an option), playing on original and outdated hardware is your only way of starting off the franchise. After just watching a video, apparently the entry points to the series also vary, meaning everyone has a rough time getting into it. Compared to Final Fantasy where every game is mostly standalone and re-released on every platform every couple of years. The .hack franchise is sadly in need of a glow up, remakes, re-releases, or just standardizing with a new game and making a better model for future installments.
Also, part of why .hack was bigger in the past was because of how magical the concept of an MMORPG seemed back in the day. Big virtual worlds with loads of people. That sheen and mysticism has worn off.
