Bamco are too much of big galaxy brains to realise that nostalgia is a helluva drug. Capcom and Sega have been riding that money train pretty good. Bamco hasn’t put out anything aside from SAO dreck that I think people are starting to wear out on. But yea, CC2 doesn’t own .hack. Bamco would have to be pressed. But there’s no guarantee that those goofs didn’t lose the sources. Then again, EA did keep all the fmv vhs masters of c&c in a broom closet. So maybe that’s the case with Bamco? No way to know unless they get pressed.
Realistically, .hack has always been a niche series. Niche doesn’t sell in US branch mainline publishers eyes.
Of course they did, why should I even be shocked?
Also think worse case scenario the series as it is currently the game gets stale no one will want to play the games. So I see it as one of two things either they need to step back and think about the SAO games like what works what doesnt what fans want all that kind of stuff.
So in my opinion it would be Good to remaster them and work on future .hack titles too possibly. That way they have another hitter for the fan base.
Spend the money make the remasters to start with not say to speed them along if stuff really has to be made from scratch but put it out there they are in the works but will be slow progress till they are complete then they decide if they want to add more and make it a official franchise.
I would think it would bring more money to bandai having 2 fan games like that. if anything just a side project of a remaster they put in the works but its slow when its out they will either earn more they put into it as a side project or at least break even and fans would be happy to have a remaster.
