I need answers about tri-edge

im not a very big fan .hack but i remember playing as tri-edge in one of the earlier installments so why is he the main bad guy now?

here's the tricky part i want answers but i don't want spoilers if that makes sense lmao.

You didn't play as Tri-Edge in the First games, you played as Kite in the first Games.
If you look around and read some info and play you can find out more about what You Think Tri-edge is and what really is Tri-edge.

You say you don't want spoilers, but... in order to get the answer you want you'll actually need to do some reading/watching of dot hack material to get it. Most people tend not to have the patience.

I'm still on volume 1 of this game so I'm not sure if this game will actually reveal the answer later on.

It's a simple answer, but at the same time - it's not.

Tri-edge just hast he same look as Kite from the first series of the .hack games. Like everyone else said, you learn more about tri-edge later in the game.

So the KITE look alike in this game isnt actually the same player and just uses the same character model although in a corrupted way because the original data dissapeared in the CCcorp fire
