PS4 controller button issues?

So, I can deal with the game showing ABXY buttons even when I'm using my PS4 controller, but what bothers me most is how much is mixed up. I like the skill triggers to match where my buttons are, but if I hit the circle, it gives me the upper trigger, if I hit cross, it gives me the right-most trigger, things like that that just don't line up like when I use a gamepad or xbox controller. Is there any sort of fix for this or should I just give in and use a different controller?

Is that not just a visual change? For example in the screenshots it shows the X button as confirm and O as back/quit, but for me its the other way around.

Even weirder yet, steam's controller config shows X as confirm and O as cancel, but they function the other way around in-game still.

If that mod actually fixes the inputs and not just changes how button images show on-screen, I'll try it out. I attempted to use it once but I couldn't get it to work but I'm willing to give it another shot.

Edit: Okay, just to make me seem like a complete nutjob, the game suddenly decided to switch the buttons to the correct inputs.

Though, now I can't get on my bike. Unless they removed the bike in Vol. 4? Its been a while since I hopped back on to play so I don't remember if they did or not.

Edit #2: I'm starting to think this game does not like PS4 controllers that much. Partway into an area my X button stopped functioning entirely until I fiddled with it in steam controller config. Weird.

While I don't have experience using a Playstation controller on Steam, I did want to ask if you've tried an Xbox controller for the game since I was going to make a new discussion post here about that. You mentioned the in-game interface has the Xbox controller scheme even though you're using a Playstation controller. Would you know if using an Xbox One controller would work for this game, then?

I agree with your last edit there, too, I'd personally suggest trying a PS3 controller or even finding a way (saw that some YouTube videos exist for this) connecting a PS2 controller and playing that way.

Sadly I don't have any Xbox One controllers to try it with, but I know it does work fine with a 360 controller. Just don't wanna use that because its got REALLY bad stick drift.

Thank you for the info! I have a 360 controller I can pop in and try if the One doesn't work. Bummer that yours seems to be having issues. If it's the controller at fault and not the game, I got my 360 controller on Amazon for something like $20. I can provide a link if that's something you'd be interested in!
