The *.acb and *.awb files contain the audio. VGMToolbox can be used to extract the audio from these (Misc Tools -> Common Archives -> CRI ACB/AWB Archive Extractor). If there is an acb and awb for a file, you only need to drag in the ACB (ie: bgm.acb / bgm.awb - only bgm.acb needs to be dropped into the VGMToolbox window).

Once extracted, you will end up with a new folder containing *.hca files. vgmstream can convert them to *.wav files, which you can then play / convert to other formats.

VGMToolbox - google it, it's on sourceforge.
vgmstream - google it, it's on github. On the releases tab, grab test.zip (test.exe will be the converter - needs to be run from the command prompt).

VGSC v2.1 (google: VGSC puggsoy, it will be the wordpress link) can convert all of the *.hca files in a folder at once via drag and drop, however it includes an outdated version of vgmstream (will give errors trying to read the data). If you wanted to use it, you would need to download vgmstream separately, rename test.exe to vgmstream.exe and place the vgmstream files in the vgmsteam\ sub-folder under VGSC (overwriting when prompted).

All VGSC does though, is execute vgmstream on each of the audio files - you could accomplish the same thing with a batch / powershell script.

Since you stated that you downloaded everything, the first step will be to make sure to rename test.exe to vgmstream.exe. By default Windows hides the extensions of known file types. So, in the vgmstream folder rename "test" (which is type "Application") to "vgmstream" (unless you see the ".exe" extension, in which case make sure to keep it at the end). Once done, move everything from the vgmstream folder to VGSC's already existing vgmstream\ sub-folder (overwrite when prompted).

Next, using bgm.acb / bgm.awb as an example:

Drag bgm.acb into right side of the VGMToolbox window, with the CRI ACB/AWB Archive Extractor selected. Once it says "Extracking files...Complete" at the bottom, you are ready to convert the files.

The extracted files will be in a new folder: in this case _vgmt_acb_ext_bgm\awb\. Inside will be the extracted .hca files, which you need to convert. Create a new folder somewhere to hold the output .wav files.

Run vgsc, browse to the extracted files (Steam\steamapps\common\hackGU\cmn\data\data\sound\PC\_vgmt_acb_ext_bgm\awb\), and select them all (click on a single HCA file, then press Ctrl+A). Click Open at the bottom, and then it will bring up a "Browse for Folder" dialogue box - this is for the output. Find the output directory you created, select it and click OK.

If you correctly replaced the vgmstream files, it will scroll a lot of text showing the conversions, ie:

---------- decoding D:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\hackGU\cmn\data\data\sound\PC\_vgmt_acb_ext_bgm\awb\aid_btl.hca sample rate: 48000 Hz channels: 2 channel mask: 0x3 / FL FR looping: disabled loop start: 327460 samples (0:06.822 seconds) loop end: 2960603 samples (1:01.679 seconds) stream total samples: 2960896 (1:01.685 seconds) encoding: CRI HCA layout: flat metadata from: CRI HCA header bitrate: 255 kbps samples to play: 2960896 (1:01.685 seconds) ----------

Once finished, it will just say "Done" at the bottom of the window. Press enter to close it, and you will have .wav files in the output directory you made, which you can then play, convert to other formats (mp3/ogg/etc), whatever.

If you did not properly replace the vgmstream files, it will just say for instance:

failed opening D:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\hackGU\cmn\data\data\sound\PC\_vgmt_acb_ext_bgm\awb\aid_btl.hca

If that happens, recheck the steps to update the copy of vgmstream that VGSC comes with.

*Edit* Once everything has successfully converted, you can of course delete the folder containing the files VGMToolBox created (in the above example: _vgmt_acb_ext_bgm\).
