Anyone else game the game uninstall itself?

I had just finished 100% ing everything in Rebirth and started a save in the second game last night, booted up my PC tonight and steam is asking me to install the game. I never uninstalled it just stopped being there and no clue why.

I checked my Steam game locations and all the files where still there, so "reinstalled" choicing the same drive location and it seems to be finding the files just fine without having to redownload, just weird that it thought it uninstalled when I didn't

My save files just deleted themselves. I am about to just quit. I was halfway through the sencond game and when I went to save I saw nothing was there and I couldnt save. I then logged into the world to save at a booth and it crashed. Now I have no saved data files. Its no where.

weird... once I got the game "reinstalled" my saves where still there... wonder if it is a Steam issue right now or if it is the game itself, either way I luckily didn't loose any save data it just forgot where the game was installed.

I think this is a steam issue ...cause I browsed out to where the saved data is stored and it shows the file there. It has data in the file but the game doesnt see it for some reason.

Have you tried to backup your save and reinstall the game?

Yeah this is just a Steam issue. Mine does this sometimes, usually because of a corrupt update to Steam. All you can do is redownload, copy it to a seperate folder you overwrite after each game and hope for the best. Steam won't help you fix it.

I happend to me just the other day. Was super dissapointed when I have to redownload 50GB again.
As expected of Steam.

My save files didnt get deleted though.

Glad I read this thread before playing. I have really slow internet so it takes me about two full days of downloading, I think I'll wait for some updates or something before I try.

Guessing your running Win10, since Win10 seems to uninstall stuff at random, and once in a blue moon.

Yeah, this computer is. Good to know, like I said when I "reinstalled" the game Steam just had to verify the files it already had and didn't actually have to redownload anything it just corrected the install but was still an odd bug and a bit annoying.

This game has been out for a while and no updates.....doubt anyone is looking at fixing any bugs. Most of Vol 2 has missing faces and bodies.

I've used Windows 10 for a few years now and that's never ever happened before. Definitely a .hack GU issue and not a Windows 10 issue.

it has happened to other Games, so it is NOT a .hack GU issue, it's a Win 10 issue.

Or it's your PC AND/OR a GU issue. I've never heard anyone else once ever having this issue with Windows 10.
