Transitioning Between Parts/Games

[Question]

Playing a continuous story across multiple games is a relatively new experience for me since I never had the original .hack games.

I have some idea on what to get in Rebirth to prepare for Reminisce. I have read that I should farm up on Beginner's Texts and Books along with getting the "Own King" item from a doppelganger before moving on to Reminisce, but is there anything else that I should do?

The overall question that I would like to generally ask is "What I should do in each part before moving on to the next part?"

I believe the Book of 1000, doesn't alter much, what ever you pick up will be able to pick up later on that book, except for some gear. the Chaotic PKs also change if you want to clear them out before going to the next gamel. There is also the Secret Boss that happens in the game that you can complete for a rare weapon.

Definitely want to max out the Book of 1000 if you care about getting everything. Some things from it *are* missable from volume to volume.

Missables in Vol. 1:

• Mecha Grunty campaign rewards
  
• Chaotic PK full kill reward weapon
  
• Lucky Animal full list reward armor
  
• Own King
  
• Stat boosts from quest rewards for Vol. 1
  
• Some guild shop 5* unique accessories
  
• Abyss quest clear armor and encountered enemies
  
• Possibly the Avatar Simulation clear background for Vol. 1 (unsure)

In terms of "critical" missables, Own King is arguably the only one, as missing it locks out Heine's Invasion. The rest, however, make completion of Ryu Book IV (items) more difficult (though not impossible as both it and the monster book have an error margin).

Personally, I went all-in for unlocks for this save, right down to unlocking every keyword available in Vol. 1. Doesn't add much time to overall completion, and makes Book of 1000 grinding easier by having more keywords available for monster hunting. Plus there's Steam achievements, if you care about such things.

Can thiese things do at near end of the Vol 1? I haven't never done every thiese quests and i think i have not seen all thous before like "Own king".

You can finish vol 1, then go around finishing all the stuff, in preparation for the next vol. Dont worry, nothing is missable if you beat the vol first.

Go ahead and beat Vol. 1. All of the content can be finished after the story is done, before you load Vol. 2.

Own King is a key item dropped by the Doppelganger, which you shouldn't even try to fight until Lv.47 when you can equip Rough Alloy armor.

Well, when you think you're ready, go to any outdoor area and clear it completely - kill all monsters, kill the boss/clear the beast temple - then sit outside in the cleared area for 5+ minutes doing NOTHING. Literally, put down your controller/M+K and stare at the clock -
don't press any buttons at all. After 5+ minutes have passed, walk around. When you get close to Doppel a red arrow will appear. Follow it to find the encounter.

Be prepared, as Doppel is always 8 levels higher than Haseo, meaning it breaks the Vol. 1 level limit. It also constantly regenerates health (25hp per second, I believe), can actively heal itself, and has armor with Sleep-counter, so make sure your party can cure sleep. If you go in at Lv.50 with all of the stat boost quest rewards, Alloy armor with Physical -10% and Physical -25, and Spin Needle +5 with at least backstab, the battle will be easy. Anything less or much earlier, you should prepare for a difficult fight.

THIS seriously helps so much when i finally decide to try fight. Thanks. No wonder i never met Doppleganger at PS2... i never stopped standing after clearing an area.

I'm pretty sure that if you don't max out your book to lvl3 in Vol 1 and go to Vol 2, you just gold until you get past lvl 3.

This means missing out on the Wallpaper, BGM and greeting card rewards for Vol 1.

Because that was incorrect. Starting with Vol. 2 GP was added as a regular reward. You're fine.

max level for the Ryu Books in Volume 2 is 6.

Vol. 1 maxes at 3, 2 maxes at 6, and 3 maxes at 9 (one level shy of getting our own area word as a guild hall T_T)

Hmm. THe one time I tried to fight the Doppleganger in the original game, he wrecked my face, and that's with the armor I got from the Abyss quest, and at level 50.
With spin needle, and all that.

The big problem with fighting him is he is completely immune to whatever weapon he has out that you use on him. He's Haseo's evil twin after all.
THat's why fighting him is a damn challenge. You can have the most awesome 5 star twin sword Spin Needle all you want, it won't do a damn thing if it's the weapon in his hands.
I remember specifically hitting him for 0 damage.

So, there's a trick to the fight, but it's not an easy fight at level 50 at all. Even with all the stat boosts and other item rewards. If the fight is supposed to be easy like that, it would have been impossible for me to lose.

UNless he got hilariously nerfed in this version of the game, he's an absolute pain to fight.

As for his Regeneration, I don't remember it off hand, I was too busy having my face handed to me.
