Some fun facts you might not know

The interesting thing about dot hack is how characters connect to one another over time through the over arching story. Below are some fun facts you don't really find out unless you explore the other mediums other than the games and anime.

About GU:

• Haseo is Sora from .hack//SIGN.
  
• Kuhn is Sieg from .hack// and Liminality.
  
• Yata is Wiseman, Nala, and Naobi.
  
• Endrance is Elk from .hack//.
  
• Atoli is suicidal until she meets Haseo and begin adventuring with him. She met Sakaki on a suicide BBS and has already attempted to take her life multiple times.
  
• Sakubo is not actually played by two people. It's played by an 11 year old boy with Dissociative Identity Disorder.
  
• Piros the 3rd is a parody of CyberConnect2's actual CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama.

Other dot hack timelines:

• Junichiro Tokuoka's daughter plays a character named Karl who ends up in a coma after being data drained by Sora while he's under the control of Morganna.
  
• Mia is deleted by Jyotaro Amagi (Saika Amagi's cousin), a programmer at CC Corp tasked with the G.U. Project along with Pi's brother.
  
• Ender from .hack//Roots is Pi.
  
• Mireille is Mistral's daughter playing on her character.
  
• Ouka is Mireille's private tutor in the real world.

Those two are spoilers doe, mang. You learn that through playing. Also, Sora/Haseo was in the original run of .hack// games as well, you find Skeith's staff which he gets free'd from and comes out of his coma.

That's the reason why Haseo and Kuhn have the affinity with their Avatars that they do. They were victims of the 8 phases of Morgana.

True but you actually have to work toward it. Many people don't tend to do the side stuff to learn about the players behind the characters like affection stuff / emails.

Lol yeah, you're right about that. That is my favorite part about .hack// the character development and the continuity they have between games/anime. That's the stuff that makes a good game into a great game for me.

I know. I saw .hack//Sign and played original ./hack series. There are flaws in G.U. story. Kite freed Sora from the stick and Sora saw Kite. Then why Haseo is saying tri-edge to Kite like pc in first place? He is acting he never knew about The World R1. G.U. story is somewhat flawed.

Lol yeah, you're right about that. That is my favorite part about .hack// the character development and the continuity they have between games/anime. That's the stuff that makes a good game into a great game for me.

The only meh aspect of dot hack is when they get into the 'mama' organization stuff. I could have done without that whole mess. Attempting to turn Aura into some AI weapon is pretty lame.

They actually explain it in one of the side mangas / novels. Sora's player is in a coma in the real world. During this time, Sora's PC becomes a wandering AI doing stuff for Morganna. When Sora is freed, he awakes from the coma but with no memory of anything from the years prior. He has no memory of having played "The World" at all. His parents keep it from him, considering it as a like "well he can live a normal life now and not remember the pain of it all". He rediscovers "The World" during G.U. due to it's growing popularity.

Sora was covered in manga like .hack//ZERO and stuff. They used Sora's connection with Skeith as the basis for epitaph users but couldn't find the player after The World R1. It was explained that he had no memory after coming out of the coma of the world and his parent didn't tell him about what had actually happened. It might have been a filler detail to that exact thing you brought up though. It'd be weird for Haseo to be seeing all these similar looking PCs to when he use to play and have no knoweldge on the phases if he still retained his memories as Sora.

- .hack//Liminality a glimpse of him is seen by Mai.
- .hack//Games is freed by Kite.

In an info book by the creators of dot hack, they confirmed that Haseo is Sora and that Sora lost his memories during the time where Skeith had control.

Even in GU Vol 3, when Skeith takes the appearance of Haseo, he taunts him in a similar tone he used when he was Sora.

It's not the first time we've seen memory issues of a character in the dot hack universe. Remember, for the longest time, Tsukasa thinks that he's a boy in the real world and has all these memories. All of which were fake and created by Morganna. Even when Tsukasa wakes up, she still has alot of issues mentally she's going through.

Poor wording. By during 'the time where Skeith has control' I meant it like thats the period of time when he begins to lose his memories. Like overall as a whole. During that time Skeith is taking more and more control of him and causing him to literally lose his mind, memories and self identity. Not just of Skeith but of his entire being. Also he never really interacts with Kite at all. He's freed by him yes but it's not like they're expericing a whole period of time together. It's literally half a second and then again during a brief period to defeat Corbenik. 6 years have passed since his awakening and GU. Even if Sora wasn't ever in a coma, there's no way anyone would remember a random person they met for half a second 6 years ago.
