When you try to launch the game, does nothing happen at all or do you get an error message?
If that doesn't help, maybe you can try temporarily disabling your anti-virus to see if it blocks the game from running.
I had tried both, even with the Steam client closed. It still dosen't work.
Other than that, I can't think of anything else you could try to get the game to run, apart from contacting Blue Tea Games or Big Fish Games directly for support though their website. If everything else fails, at least get a refund from Steam for the game.
Launch as admin didn't work either. I had contacted Big Fish Games some days ago. They gave me a canned answer that didn’t solve anything, but at least I got a code for a free game.
1. Right-click on "My Computer" and choose "Properties". Then click on the "Advanced" tab and then "Settings" under "Performance"
2. Choose "Data Execution Prevention" tab, then click "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select".
3. Add the "Dark Parables - Curse of Briar Rose.exe" to the list.
