I guess it's fitting as a high school simulator, though? It's frustrating, but maybe not entirely out of character for teenagers to get super melodramatic over something minor.
^ This.
I did the same thing, I don't understand how taking things as they come contradict the fact that you could want kids in 10-15-20 years, like wtf. And urgh Emily was so full of contradictions, in the end I kinda feel relieved to break up.
Kind of a bummer, Eve is a nice person.
It's the only thing that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me up my first playthough, Ugh that annoyed me since it wasn't my intention to be like that, and just roleplay as myself and not try to get both girl
That frustrated me so much that i actually wanted to break up too.
and i was just like "ok girl wtf, been nice talking to ya kthxbye" *runs away
Yeah that happened to me too and at the time i thought it was nothing but in the 5th chapter when she accused me of lying because of that i was really annoyed. I mean, basically i wanted to tell the girls the same thing but the game didn't let me ! What are we supposed to do ?! I'm really frustrated right now cause i just wanted to get emily's happy ending and now i have to do the game all-over again just for a lie i didn't want to make !
In the end I told Emily to F right off and decided that me and Evelyn couldn't be friends before she made that inevitable decision for me as the conversation back and fourth was going nowhere and simply strained. If this was real life; I certainly would have washed my hands of both of them!
This is basically what I came here to type out. I was enjoying the game so much; Chapter 3 was brutally stressful, trying to balance both conversations and keep all the details straight. The dialogue was natural and flowed well. But by the time Chapter 5 rolled around, and that single choice completely altered how the ending would go, with no room for an "I changed my opinion/I'm unsure of my opinion" option, I couldn't help but feel kind of robbed of a remotely decent ending to the story.
To me, it feels nowhere near as well executed as the original game/story. Maybe I should start expecting that in games with varying endings/dialogue choices but, I feel like choices like that, where opinions can realistically change or certain dialogue options should be present, they shouldn't be the be-all-end-all of the end to your entire experience.
It's such a bummer; I enjoyed the original so much, and couldn't say enough good about it to others, even despite the linear nature the story ultimately takes. With this one... while the presentation is still top-notch, it's basically the same story, with what definitely seems to be an obvious yet frustrating flaw to the dialogue options (one choice based on opinions that can change shouldn't dictate the entire ending, when every other choice lines up perfectly).
I just realized: in my case, I went for Evelyn, and this ending came about having told Emily that going with the flow sounded alright, but telling Evelyn a family might be nice. But I spoke with Emily first, and Evelyn second. So, essentially, what Evelyn ultimately believed was that my opinion could never have changed, or even been on the fence (as I felt it came across), after having spoken with her. What this game tells me is that all of my opinions must be completely set in stone with every person I speak with at all times, and that any changed opinions or difference in movie/musical taste must be shared with every individual I know in order to avoid arguments.
Not sure I could be more annoyed with this, now. =/
