reciever just shoots the barrel instead of the bullet going through?

I added a shotgun magazine on the end of a reciever (which I acquired from a premade shotgun I dismantled) and it just shot the magazine with bullet marks floating in the air
how do I make the guns actually work properly?

That means you put either the receiver or the barrel backwards.

Make sure the white part of the BARREL/RECEIVER is pointed forward (:
