#1 pipe thingy on the 'time machine'

Hello, all
I am having a hard time manipulating the lever to rotate the sections of pipe #1 connected to the time machine sphere. I can slide the lever just fine but when i try to mouse across to move the lever sideways it actually rotates the other direction in which the lever can go no further. i have discovered that if I make a broad circular movement downward and back up it can be effective, but not always. I do not wish to get carpel tunnel trying to manipulate this GUI in order to get the fluid to flow. Is there a patch for this? My apologies if this has already been addressed in the discussion, I could not find a thread that had dealt with this in my search.
