it's a good thing I still have my copy installed on my device.
to be honest, you aren't really missing anything.
the game is awesome, one of my favorite board games of all time, but the computer adaptation leaves much to be desired.
the a.i. plays really slow. I mean, the pace is slow.
like, the real life board game takes 6-8 hours with people, which is one thing, but the computer game vs a.i. STILL takes 2 hours and that's against a.i. that knows what it is doing.
the game is also prone to glitching out. sometimes the a.i. gets caught in a loop and a game becomes uncompletable.
other times, a glitch happens where the a.i. just stops taking turn for the rest of the game. it doesn't say the a.i. passes or anything, it just skips their turn and keeps going back to you until the game ends.
The game DOES work, most of the time, but it's really frustrating to be an hour and a half in and have it glitch out in round 8 of 9.
and the irony is that their original version worked just fine, it wasn't until they did their last update that is what broke the game and they never bothered to fix it. they just abandoned the game and apparently, now it's been pulled from all the marketplaces
Isn't there an option?
Eclipse 2nd edition (Second dawn of the galaxy) is currently in development, for the real life board game. The kickstarter website FAQ has an entry regarding the electronic version. Basically, the creator of this app went under, no longer producing games nor supporting this product.
With that being said;
Current word on the kickstarter is that lautapelit, the creator of the boardgame itself, has purchased rights to all the digital data, and will hopefully be producing their own electronic version of hte game.
I had like 10% of my games go to completions (mostly 1v1):
MP games would disappear if anyone took too long to play his turn:
He would not go AI, the game would just disappear.
I was told there was no good way to determine who took too much time, and the only remedy would be to lengthen the delay.
I don't know whether this feature also plagued Steam or not, but it was a big disappointment to me.
Recently I bought Exodus: Proxime Centauri (game similar to Eclipse - also very good),
but no players online, and Ai is primitive.
Please help. :-)
