First, I don't think Jim's advice is going to work as I believe that is the volume control for all sounds, and not just the menu.
But given that those sounds have bugged me since RDOA ... the very first game that was published back around 2000. I have created a mod that does what you want.
You may find it on the vendor's site. I have no idea how to use the Steam Workshop. Here:

My mod is pretty easy - just 2Kb; just replace the files. No one needs to modify any code as that is a bottleneck resource.
