Tips on defeating the Protector

Bombs... Lots of bombs... If you dont have Air strike, Get it since its overpowered in this game. otherwise go Lightning spells and The lightning spear for optimal damage. beware of the charge up ability, you can do 2 things with it. One: Dispel the magic damage buff he gets, and two: Use the defend option in tactics. Rest is straight forward.

Optimal defences is abit hard to get since he does damage in every element, but luckily Evation is a thing. Use it and go ninja gear on Mat and Nat. The starting attire for Lance is good against him too since when its maxed it drops bombs sometimes when you get hit.

Kinda yeah. I focus the runes and defend when it's about to lazer me but i still get REKT

Not really sure what else that might be helpful then. I suppose Upgrade White mage Dress on Natz for Random Auto Regen? and Army Armor on Lance for random Airstrikes.

Basically what i said already, and the White Mage dress could help, but you lose alot of evation, which could be the difference between life or death on this boss.

There is one tactic that can really help here if you dont trust evation at all or the RNG of Regen procs. The huge beam deals Thunder damage. If it kills you a lot, consider using Thunder resistance. I also checked a guide, and it says he uses plenty of bomb and earth attacks, so maybe it will help getting resistance against those too?

Also, did you remember to stock up on buffs? It helps a crap ton, and i usually go full defensive as the first move, in every boss fight. It helped me getting through epic mode without getting stuck for too long.

also, i agree with lance maxed out starting armor cuz the rune kamikaze heals him

also medipacks also have a chance of dropping with lance max level starting armor when an ally gets hurt

I used Lance's Heavy Claw weapon (+60% to phys. attack) for shooting Protector with Unload skill (deals physical attack), used Matt to feed Lance with Beer before every attack to have another +70% bonus. With this combination, every shot is really powerful and it took me 4-5 turns to gun Protector down on epic difficulty. Natalie for Kyun and Slime Bunny. The only trouble is thunder resistance debuff from Lance's gun, but if Lance got accidentialy killed - you could bring him back with Natalie, buff his attack with Matt and shoot again, losing nothing. Completely ignored his helpers, because if you kill any of them - Protector will replace them with new foes anyway.
