Game doesn't start/crashes troubleshooting
Please follow these steps until you can start the game:

1 - Restart steam

2 - Verify game integrity:
  1. In your steam library, right-click on the game and select properties
  2. In the 'local files' tab select verify integrity of game cache

3 - Copy the following path
%appdata%\..\Local\Another Brick in the Mall
and paste it in the Windows search bar, or the file explorer.
Delete local.set if it exists.

4 - Also in
%appdata%\..\Local\Another Brick in the Mall
Open the console file and copy paste its content here.

5 - If there is no console.log, please check the Windows Event viewer:
  • Open the Windows event viewer (type event viewer in the windows search bar)
  • On the left panel, select Windows Logs and Applications.
  • On the right panel click Find, enter "launch.exe" and click Next.
  • On the middle panel, select the latest error and copy/paste the event log here.

Also post your full PC specs including number of monitors and their resolutions, and any unusual hardware you have. Also please mention your Windows version, and if it is updated.

I'm not a computer person and unless you give me complete details on how to do the fixes then I can't play the game. I searched my updates and I have KB2999226 already installed (updating windows, virus definitions and running scans is the extent of my skills). I've enjoyed playing the game...up until it reaches the point where it freezes all the time. Since I can't play it and I have no idea how to apply all these fixes, how do I get my money back?

@fallenone121: it's definitely a graphic driver problem. Maybe rollback to an older driver, or wait for AMD to fix the current one.

After few months of not playing this game i wanted to pick it up again. But the game won't launch. The Launch.exe pops up and shuts down again and nothing happens.

Tried the following:
Normal launch
Safe mode
Unstable version in normal and safe
Checking integrity of files by Steam
re-installing
And all of the steps mentioned in the first post.

Game previously worked fine up until 5 weeks ago. Tried to play since new versions released and now it won't launch (gets to "syncing" and then fails). Also fails under admin.

edit: Graphics is unchanged from previous working state. It is NVidia GeForce GT 540M. 2Gb dedicated. v384.76. DirectX 12.0

When it worked fine before and suddenly doesn't launch anymore, it is most likely a C runtime problem, as we switched from VC2015 to VC2010 a couple months ago.

Go to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Another Brick in the Mall\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010

and run vcredist_x64.exe and vcredist_x86.exe.
Make sure the install goes through without error messages.
If it doesn't, run it again and choose repair.
If that fails too, choose uninstall, reboot your computer and install it again.

Quadsphere, as suggested I have tried both the repair and uninstall/re-install as suggested but the same problem persists.

The game tries to launch and in the library menu the game shows "syncing" and then returns to normal without the game launching.

Any other ideas please ?

According to your console.log, the game is using Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000, not the GT 540M.
You should force the game to use the GT 540M in the Nvidia control panel.

Saw this thread while trying to fix Invisible inc. and finally finding the solution after a few weeks of beating my face into a wall. figured I would leave this here to help others.

If you're on windows 10 make sure you have the "creators" update installed.
Microsoft (of course wasn't doing anything shady) but magically many issues with steam and games not working has been fixed with that update. I mean this happened after Microsoft was called out for inducing issues intentionally by multiple big time gaming companies, but of course microsoft wasn't being intentionally shady... cough.

Iregi - interesting. is that a standard W10 update or a setting? Any idea how to locate it manually or is it just via windows update?

Wont start. Ill click it and it flashes a command window and goes away super fast and shows running in the games bar next to the name, then sync super fast then flicks to just the name. In safe mode command prompt comes up with whats in console file.

@S1nist3rKaos: do you have Nvidia shadowplay enabled? If yes, please try to disable it and see if that fixes it.
Also, what is the refresh rate of your monitor?

So I did the following, but still not running. I also updated drivers, restarted steam and such. This game ran without problem but it is not running when I decided to return in few months. It just say running and syncing, and I can see a window pop up and dissapear in 0.3 sec. There is no problem with my laptop spec, and I use windows 10. It is updated.
