This game wouldn't exist without Prison Architect! Please do understand that we are 4 years, 30+ updates (and 10 people) behind the current PA version. There is currently only 2 people working on this game: me, coder and designer (full time for a year) and a freelance artist.
1. There will be an ongoing discussion on this topic (look for the other thread 'Automation vs Micro'). The current idea is to have both gameplays: minimal interaction (minus building and management) and intense micro when needed (crisis, events), depending on a difficulty setting and enabling specific events at the start of a game.
2. What do you mean by 'logical' building types' ? More zone types (they all serve a function) are definitely planned.
The feedback on first few weeks of early access will determine if the focus goes on fleshing out existing zone types and systems or adding new ones. But of course we want to have both in the long run.
3. I've been thinking about color picking for walls and floors tiles (objects are more complicated). Definitely considered. (The downside to color picking is that unless the player has a real sense of color theory it looks like ♥♥♥♥ really fast).
4. Sharing malls over the workshop is in progress. Sharing only the blueprints is a good idea, I'll add it to the list. Graphical and scenario mods are likely.
As for the release date, I'm afraid it's going to be 'when it's done'™ within 'This Fall'™. Seriously, it's right around the corner.
