Is Multiplayer planned?
hi, is multiplayer-mode planned? Coop or versus? Both would be nice.

It's not planned at all, sorry.

But you should really plan for it. I think more people would play.:lunar2019smilingpig:

I'm pleased there isn't multiplayer...that the time and effort can be spent on better single play stuff, I'd never use multiplayer...but that's just me.

i would say MAYBE, once the game is actually "complete", then maybe add in multiplayer somehow.
but for a game like this i agree it doesn't seem like it would be at all a priority, and also a little difficult to do in a fun and fair way.

other then maybe a leaderboard, and sharing creations, (scenarios basically, like take over this mall and try to make a profit)

People don't seem to understand how hard it is to add multiplayer to a game with so many variables... syncing every single customer running around on multiple paths is hard enough. There's a reason most NPC's in MMO's don't move around much...

If you'd like to compete with a friend, you can do it over a video call with your own goals to aim for :)

Compete and build together or just next to each other. That is all very nice. But we need to have the feeling, beeing in the same world. And have some interaction possibility. Some negotiaton or cost intensive sabotage possiblities. But mainly settling friendly next to each other. So a video call can´t give this social feeling.

I don't get this need to make single player games, multiplayer in this day and age. I think that was a big mistake for PA to go down that route. This game is a nice little relaxing single player game (you used to call them "loner winners") and I think you miss the point of it if you think coop would make this better.

However, the thing that I would like to see, is possibly make a leaderboard system, so at least you can compete with other malls. Not sure how hard that is to do but that would be in keeping with what I think the dev is going for. (Concrete Capitalism esque - so if you added competition, you are basically still in line with it)

Leaderboards are boring. It´s the same feeling like playing alone in Singleplayer. F.e. we are 4 friends alsway looking for games like this in coop or versus. But mainly playing friendly next to each other if it´s versus. It´s the feeling, beeing in the same universe - having some interaction. So perhaps like cooking together. You can cook in seperate rooms or in one kitchen. For us - in the same kitchen at the same time, it´s more funny. Or we are going into a mall(but not together), all bying a shirt. After that we compare the shirt an the price (leaderboard). Hm. Better is going together and life-talking about the things or other things...

I get what you mean, I do, but there are other games where you can be together. This game is has a total different ethos to it. I play EU4 as multiplayer for instance but never play single player. Not sure why, just find it more fun mp.

And besides, the dev needs to finish the game before fiddling with any sort of MP compatibility. in my opinion.

Yes, EU4 is only fun for me in mp, too. But this game, too. Sure, they didn´t planned to do this in multiplayer - so it´s hard to too afterwards. So they should do the singleplayer ready firstly. But i think a lot of gamers are hoping on mp for this game. So it´s an option. Maybe on a second part of the game.

As a fellow developer I can understand the choice not to support multiplayer. First, you need to design the game from the ground up as a multiplayer game. Tacking it on after the fact never works well.

More importantly, network code is really really hard to get right, so hard in fact that most games don't get it right. Good on the dev's to focus on doing one thing and doing it well. The gameplay mechanics need work anyway and I'd rather see this game get the polish it needs than have them fiddle ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with network syncing code.
