but for a game like this i agree it doesn't seem like it would be at all a priority, and also a little difficult to do in a fun and fair way.
other then maybe a leaderboard, and sharing creations, (scenarios basically, like take over this mall and try to make a profit)
If you'd like to compete with a friend, you can do it over a video call with your own goals to aim for :)
However, the thing that I would like to see, is possibly make a leaderboard system, so at least you can compete with other malls. Not sure how hard that is to do but that would be in keeping with what I think the dev is going for. (Concrete Capitalism esque - so if you added competition, you are basically still in line with it)
I get what you mean, I do, but there are other games where you can be together. This game is has a total different ethos to it. I play EU4 as multiplayer for instance but never play single player. Not sure why, just find it more fun mp.
And besides, the dev needs to finish the game before fiddling with any sort of MP compatibility. in my opinion.
More importantly, network code is really really hard to get right, so hard in fact that most games don't get it right. Good on the dev's to focus on doing one thing and doing it well. The gameplay mechanics need work anyway and I'd rather see this game get the polish it needs than have them fiddle ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with network syncing code.
