The Good
-Ambient Sounds in the game are really really good
-Music is a notch below the ambient sounds but very good as well
-The game is not 4k quality but still looks good; the caves and lighting are beautiful
-Game runs buttery smooth
-Narrator voice is nice and fits the story

The Bad
-The story, sadly, just isn't any good. I think the fact they leave the game to interpretation was not a benefit in this case. I say it works in other games but not this one. I never felt anything for the characters.
-The words. They use these big or rare words in the dialogue and it just feels like a person who is trying to sound smart but isn't. It needed better words choices for the dialogue. I understood everything as far as it goes but it reads like a poem when It shouldn't.

All in all I was disappointed after seeing all these great reviews. I play other "Walking Narratives" and this just doesn't hold up as others have said. If you can get this for 2-3 dollars, maybe but due to the cons and length of it, it's just not worth anymore than that.

I can't figure out if it's dreadful TAA or some kind of bad motion blur but even at 160FPS this game is a blurry mess as are a lot of games these days. You just wonder if the devs have eyes.

And there are no save points so having to restart the game to try to force the graphics driver to override what the game is doing is a pain.

I had to unplug my controller, otherwise the camera just spun around constantly. The game was not responding to the controller in any other way, and did not provide any way to turn it off. I hate digging around behind my desk to unplug my controller and usually that's just an instant fail for a game, but this time around I thought I'd give it a chance. What a waste of time.

The voice over was just annoying drivel.

I could have maybe persisted with this if the game actually looked good but all I saw was the typical mess of so many games that are trying to do something with the graphics I don't understand. I'd bet good money the original looked better.

Dear Esther: Landmark Edition is pretty good for a slow paced walking simulator.

The environments look really nice and the sound design is just impeccable. The sounds of the strong winds and the echoes of the caves makes you *FEEL* the environments of the game.

I played from start to finish on my SteamDeck OLED and it was a solid experience at 60 FPS.
