Hatch, WTF? (spoilers inside)

If you refuse to help the kitties in all chapters, you get this weird extra thing called "Hatch".
Does anyone have any idea what is going on there? I struggle to explain absolutely anything of what is going on there.

Felix is the cat that was bred with elder cat(why is he #1?), and Oliver is the name of one of the developers, and that is all I can understand.
Why does it say to constantly press that key combination? I tried pressing it and nothing happened.

Can anyone help me make any sense of this?

Just like the achievement name, the entire extra section with the vault is a parody of a TV series known as 'Lost'. In it there was an island with some kind of weird machine hidden within an underground hatch that created a magnetic forcefield around the island. Since Cat Island and the island in Lost both had a shield I guess they decided to reference the show. In the show, to stop the magnetic charge getting too strong, someone had to manually type in certain keys into the computer.

Is the whole #1-#24 thing a reference too?
And so is Oliver(whoever that is)?
And so is the weird part where no one comes if you agree to press a button?

I'm also very curious as to why you get that extra specifically refusing to help 6 times in a row.

It has been quite some time since I watched Lost but I believe when someone was within the hatch, they refered to the next person to come and take their place by some kind of codename.
I don't think it was numbers, but my memory isn't the best. Oliver is the name of the game developer, my bet is that was just a reference of some kind-maybe not linked with the show.
As for why nobody shows up after you yourself take over pressing the buttons- again a reference to the show Lost as the character first found pressing the numbers into the computer always believed nobody would ever come to take their place.
