Is it too late to get into GG?
I'm looking for another fighting game to get into when BlazBlue gets a bit repetitive. Is it hard to get into this game at this point in its cycle?

I didn't think so. I'm about 3 or 4 months in, and I do pretty well. When a veteran completely trashes me they tend to switch to a secondary character to level the playing field.

I've had games where a better player switches between characters they know, in which I lose to their main, but defeat their secondaries. This is nice to release some :salt: in those wins, but also still have that challenge to beat their main.

I originally stayed away from Rev 1 because I wasn't happy with their release. It wasn't simultaneous with console, but they were asking full price. Since then however the company has had simultaneous releases with their products such as Rev 2, DBFZ, and BBCTB.

Those simultaneous releases convinced me to pick up DBFZ, but also go back and pick up Rev 1 & 2. I'm glad I did. Guilty Gear Xrd is a fun game, and while I love DBFZ I've ended up enjoying GG more.

It's never too late to do anything. And even when it is, late is still better than never.

Not at all. DBFZ brought new players and by being a Blazblue player you already have a good base knowledge about GG since they both are pretty similar in many ways.

It's never to late, and whenever you start the game, I think the first (dozens of) hours are always the same : You getting destroyed.

It's the same for everyone tho, so you shouldn't feel bad for that :). Beside, it's not like the serie is done, so if you start here, you won't be a total noob when the next one arrive, it always reset the playing field a bit in a sense too.

So if you're interested, and aren't worried of losing at first, I think you should go for it without a doubt !

Pretty much the only time that is too late to start is when the playerbase has completely died off. Getting good at the game always requires hard work, but without at least some amount of players around your level it requires so much more effort to gain experience through matches.

GGXrd is definitely not dead so the earlier you start, the more playtime you get before the next update and another big wave of new players. ASW picked Rev2 to be on Sunday at this year's EVO, so there will definitely be something to expect in the future.
