How to Unlock Characters?

Only the Steam version of SIGN allowed buying DLC characters with in-game money. In Revelator and Rev 2, you can only purchase Raven, and maybe you can even get him for free just by finishing the Story mode (I know several other ASW games do that). Aside from that, you need the DLC.

Raven is purchasable with in-game currency. Baiken, Answer, Dizzy and Kum are post-release content, so they're bought with real money as a type of DLC. You can farm money quite easily and relatively fast in Tutorial mode's "Mini Game #4". I highly suggest you use only Ky (due to speed, hitbox and framedata), only his standing P/K and far S (with FRC/YRC) and drop the servant "ball" immediately as the "timer" reaches 1000+ points, for that (you've already got the money by that time and you won't get more than just 1000 W$ if you continue...it's purely only for "best score" purposes from there on), and then "retry" immediately afterwards. I've been testing that methodology with a timer/stop-watch and I've accumulated roughly 125000 W$ (minus 49000 W$ due to me being to aggressive and getting into the corner too much, creating unwinnable situations where even FRC/YRC wouldn't have helped) in exactly 60 minutes of non-stop play time. You gain roughly 8000 W$ per every 2 minutes and 40 seconds, if you're good enough. Better use this only after you've already completely depleted all other money-raking spots, though (Story, Mission, Combo, Tutorials, Episode, and etc), as at that point this becomes the only decent method left.

You need to buy the Rev 2 DLC. Either that, or your game is in Revelator mode instead of Rev 2.
