Ky's a war orphan who dedicated his first 22 years of life to killing endless hordes of bio-mechanical creatures made primarily to wage war on human soldiers. He's the foremost expert on the subject, and his knowledge of magic is easily on par with Sol's, despite him being a human who draws from lightning (the most difficult magic), while Sol not only discovered magic, but is also a gear, has had over 100 years longer to study magic, and draws fire (the easiest magic). Before he was even out of his teens, Ky had risen to the highest rank possible in the holy order, been gifted one of its most powerful weapons (not lent, gifted for keeps), further promoted to captain, replacing Kliff, and then he ended the crusades by sealing Justice with some help.
You shouldn't take such a person lightly, no matter how christian and well-mannered they pretend to be. In the first GG, his destroy wasn't a holy order secret technique, but a far more refined killing blow of his own invention, called zwei voltage, which is a no-nonsense cross cut delived with lightning speed and lightning precision, each cut hitting with the electric force of an actual thunderbolt.
There's also the whole thing where Sol realistically can't actually access his full gear powers, because the magic drawn destabilizes the world around him, and puts an immense strain on his body to begin with. He can work around and compensate for the first part no problem, but that just makes the second part far worse (dragon install 2nd). He built his power limiting headband for a reason.
Serious Ky is playable in some console versions of GGX, and has access to moves that'd fit right in on an SNK boss.
...turns out Sol just wanted to get that fight he was owed. -_-
And he still looks like a girl while Sol looks like an actual fighter.

GG story is worse than dbz in terms of consistency lol.
Sol during Dragon Install would mop the floor with Ky but there's a huge difference between Ky the killing machine and Ky the duelist. Which is why Sol accused him of sandbagging.
I'd wager the only people who'd stand toe-to-toe with Sol in DI would be Slayer, Bedman and Dizzy.
This is without the implication of Ky having gear DNA now.
Secondly, Sol's supreme power is = Ky's techniques. Sol and Ky are both experienced soldiers who have fought during the Holy War for a long time. In the GGXTRA Manga we can see a FRAGMENT of Sol's real power that can erase a 4 tons Gear in a single hit. But compare to the speed and mobility that Ky had had during the final battle during the final clash between both of them, i think it is equal. Sol had also mentioned the he had been given the 'chill' when seeing real Ky in battle. However, that is when Sol is limited by weapon and power. If he removed all seals from his body + the Fuuenken, Ky won't stand a chance. Even so, during the period that the seals are removed, Sol lost conscious, that means Ky can defeat Sol without sweat. So Ky and Sol, both have the ability to KO the opponent. Equality!
In conclusion, I think both are cool and awesome, and I'm sure that Ishiwatari (the god) wouldn't want any character to have an advantage over another, since Sol IS voiced by him and based on him to be created with.
IT IS EQUALITY EVERYONE!
