Input delay and netplay
Verified by many people, including myself, the PC version of -SIGN- has roughly around the following values of input delay:
<3.5f by default
<2.5f without vsync
<1.5f without vsync and post effects.

The PS4 versions have around 3.5 to 4f with no way to lower it. The arcades have 4.5~5.0f (measured in two different arcades, two different cabinets)

So you'd say that 4-5f input delay is the standard for this game. with the Steam version, you can bring this down to a 3-4f lower value by disabling vsync and post effects, and most people did this in Sign. However, at least in the console version of Revelator, you can add input delay manually to all modes, however that doesn't persist in netplay (which is good in PS context)

Considering you'll play against people online in different delays, it'd be very awesome to have that global input delay slider work as a buffer for the netplay delay. i.e if you set it to +3f, you'd have approximately the same experience offline as on PS4, and then if you played online against an opponent in 1 to 3f delay, it'd set the delay to 3f (for you) so that the online experience up to 3f would be exactly the same as offline. The benefit from this would be huge, you'd always play in the same delay.

It should be a rather trivial feature to add as well. Is there any chance of getting this feature for the Revelator steam version?

Would be nice indeed.

Interesting read, I'll ping up the RED team for their decision. Might not happen now or in this current game though, but I'll make sure they're aware of it.

Thanks for the answer. Fingers crossed they'll like this idea and want to bring it to this instalment at some point. I could always have post effects & vsync disabled, with 3 or 4f of added delay, and play against anyone within europe with the same delay as ps4 offline. Now I'll need to change vsync/posteffect settings based on the opponent which is fairly annoying.

Though, another suggestion would be to make the add delay menu available anywhere, so that I can just adjust it on the fly. that would also work fairly well.

Hi, could you recommend 3-5 pads and fightsticks, that are the most suitable for this game on PC? Thank you in advance.

I don't really think it's the thread to ask about this, and I don't think it's Shini's speciality either...
I've heard overall good feedback about the DualShock 4 (pad), Hori Fighting Commander (pad), MadCatz Fightpad (pad), Hori RAP Pro 4 / Pro 4 Kai (fightstick) and MadCatz Tournament Edition 2 (fightstick), but I've never tried them. I'd not recommend the Xbox 360 controller because of its d-pad, and the Xbox One one doesn't seem to have improved much about it.

To give an alternative, I have a custom fightstick with Sanwa parts, and it's quite good. But your mileage may vary depending on how you make it and what parts from what manufacturer you prefer.

Sorry if I asked in wrong topic. But I asked with input delay on my mind. Does the controller affect the input delay? For example I use Logitech F310. It is good, but I am sure there is better than that. My fingers are in pain after some hour of difficult move execution.
BTW thank you for your response. Now Steam support native ps4 controller, or I am wrong?

Steam Beta, yep; don't know about the Steam main update branch since I don't think I've seen a client update lately, but it should arrive soon.

And unless you're using a crappy controller (which I don't think F310 are) or a too long cable, I don't think the controller itself impacts the input delay. The springs of the d-pad and buttons can play on it though, since depending on the controller you might have to press more or less on them to have them output the signal.

As it's said in the original post, some delay can happen because of additional graphical options. It could also be happening if you're using a really old USB port, though I doubt you're in that case. Else, I don't really know... Can be caused by the game as well (I know Street Fighter has eight forced frames of delay, for instance).

About your fingers aching after execution though, it might be because of your d-pad and buttons, and your execution speed as well; maybe you should try slowing the execution down to see if the output is not the same, and if it is, you should be able to reduce the pain. Just my hypothesis here though.

Actually controllers can add delay, even significant one (1F+) http://www.teyah.net/sticklag/results.html
It's just no one is testing common controllers for it.

This is the exact reason I considered Xrd playable online on PC only.

I do play GG XX, Blaz, Melty alonside other games with the Logitech F310, I can say that actually I had more troubles making some inputs on my PS3 stick than the controller but I know that is maybe because I have to use a third party software. In the case of PS4 maybe Steam is the third party software, think on that before buying a PS4 controller or stick because we have to see how much "native" will be the Steam PS4 connection.

Well, yeah, it's native until a certain point, since it will recognize the DS4 in Big Picture, but will act as a wrapper in games (so you'll have Xbox controller prompts)... At least that's what I understood.
