New characters

So, do you think ASW will add new characters to this game? I mean, the roster is already quite full and nice, but after making some research, I have discovered that there are many characters from previous GG games that do not appear in this one (because of plot reasons I guess). Still, some of them seem really awesome, and I would like to play them, but I don't want to buy previous GG games. Imagine, the roster could be even bigger than that of BB... :o

Yeah, w/ Team Red handling DBFZ, we'll probably have to wait 2+ years. And it won't be for adding new characters to REV2, but rather just a new Xrd entry all together.

I doubt every character from XX returns. Kliff is dead, right? I don’t know what happened to ABA, Bridget, or Testament in the story. But Anji (voice only), Robo-Ky, and Zappa are in the Xrd story so far. Justice, technically, too, but that’s already been addressed and likely not in Xrd3.

As for new characters, I think it’s an obvious safe assumption Xrd3 will get new playable characters. Delilah seems like a shoe-in. Maybe Daryl? Maybe someone new to the GG world all-together, ala Bedman, Haehyun, the new Valentine sisters, Answer, etc.

Kliff and Justice are both dead, but in fighting games, like in western cartoons, no one really actually dies, which is why Kliff's been in pretty much every game, same with Justice.

Kliff, Justice, Testament, Baiken, and Bridget are very unpopular characters among actual players, and when they picked the initial Xrd cast, they spent a lot of time making sure they included all the essentials, and immediately after release, started working on the two 'big ones' they didn't have time or money to complete for Xrd: Johnny and Dizzy. Baiken's overhaul made her a lot more fun to fight as, and against, and if they can salvage Baiken, then they can salvage Bridget and Testament, too.

But there's also the fact that some characters are very popular, like holy order Sol and Robo-Ky, so those are likely to be added before Bridget, for instance.

It's also worth noting that they've introduced a plot device that actually resurrects dead-for-good-plotwise characters like both Zato & Eddie (who were both dead around the end of X2 if I'm not mistaken), a plot device which I believe was introduced to eventually make reintroducing dead characters like Kliff plausible.

At this rate, it's going to be a wild guess and just about anyone could make a return really, which might have to do (partially, at least) with that poll they held in Japan regarding who people want to see return.

Whoops, I mean the characters in ggxxac, and Kliff and Justice are not very popular among the players.

As for ABA and Bridget, they’re just remote from the main story. Testament however, has a higher rate to be added in game before ABA and Brighet. If I am not wrong, he is the brother of Dizzy, and he has a special relationship with Sol.

Testament is Kliff's son. No family relation with Sol and Dizzy.
But as a previous Holy Order member he may know Sol (and as they are both gears they have a special link), and Testament protected Dizzy when she was only the Maiden of the Groove after he escaped from the Second Holy Order Sacred Tournament.

Yeah, I figured. I just put XX for some reason, rather than AC+R. =D

I always thought not making Ariel (aka "Sanctus Maximus Populi Ariels") a playable final boss was a wasted opportunity.

However After Story state she is still alive. Maybe one day...

Yes, I have the feeling they will make her a playable character in the future, maybe in a rev3. Who knows.

Now the focus seems to be on DBZ. However characters like Robo-Ky and Anji are already shown in story mode, and I guess there is some progress done on them. My guess is we will get a new character announced relatively soon and it will be Anji/Robo-Ky/Zappa. I'm guessing EVO Japan for the announcement with the release being in april or something like that.

The other option is nothing new for quite some time. Definitely not in 2018. Then they announce a new version somewhere in 2019.

Or, they could also make Valentine (from Guilty Gear 2 -Overture-) return. But yeah, I agree that she looks like a potential playable character.

Maybe setting up traps everywhere, quick (paralyzing?) close-combat attacks and trap triggering/destruction?
