Level editor out of VR?
Is it required to make your own levels while in VR? Is there a 3rd party program to use to edit the levels?

Also I had a completely seperate question not relative to this and has no need to be answered.

Is developing for the VIVE much more dev friendly than the Oculus?

I'd love a level editor out of VR. I spent half an hour or so making a really terrible test map, it was pretty fun but I could see myself putting more hours into making maps on my desktop vs making them in VR. Make a general level out of VR, then polish it up in VR. That could be really fun

I made some code for making Climbey levels in the 3D program "Blender" which was then improved upon by someone else. Its clunky and has its flaws though. I also had something which converted Minecraft levels to Climbey levels.
I'm working on something that's much more integrated into blender right now[imgur.com].

How can I get my custom maps to open once I'm in game? the VR editor won't load the map I just made in the 2d editor. trying to give a test run.

In my experience whenever the VR editor wont load a map, or will only partially load it, it is because there is something wrong with the save file, or the save file isn't stored inside a folder of the same name.

Ahh, I just made a new folder in the climbey directory with the custom maps and tossed my map in there, didn't bother renaming anything. I'll try matching the names and see if that helps.

Hey themonkeyoverlordofsatin, I was wondering if you could send me that minecraft to climbey thing. It sounds really useful.

Sorry, I never received a notification that someone posted on this...

I could try to do that, its currently not in a user friendly state, and I'd have to make it more user friendly. FYI Just trying to import entire minecraft landscapes wont work, it just creates waaay too many Climbey objects and lags the game. The code needs a sort of voxel optimization algorithm that I know should exist, but I have no idea how to research it.

... random side note: I've put some manual work into converting this[forum.unity.com] into a Climbey level but without a way to 100% automate it, ultimately decided it was too much work for 1 person.
